Ok well here's a synopsis of my weekend.

Friday-Called Uptown Cigar in New York and ordered a box of 25 cigars called the Fuente Sampler. I also got him two Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars, one OpusX Robusto, and one A size with its own coffin or something. Then I went to the Nations Gun Show with the bf. I bought 8 boxes of ammo for around 100 bucks. His friend bought a Mosin Nagant rifle for 100 bucks as well. Not bad I guess.

Saturday I really lost my mind. We were going to go shoot at a friend's house but the weather was poopy so we were going to go to a range. Well I spilled the beans about getting him the Fuentes. I mentioned that he would need a bigger humidor because he's getting 29 more cigars. So we scratched the shooting idea and went to the cigar store. Well I got him a new humidor for 250 bucks, originally 500, and I got him some stuff to go with the humidor as well as a box of Avos. I think I spent like 600 bucks on that trip. So we went home and we were having trouble getting the humidity to go past 42, so yesterday I went back to the store (alone) and got a bunch more stuff. I got two bottles of humidor water, a nifty "windproof" lighter with a bottle opener attached, two more humidifiers to fix the humidity problem, and ANOTHER box of Gurkha Titans. Holy crap I think the guy who runs that place can take a vacation now, or at least close early a couple of days this week! Well bf was pretty excited, not as excited as I thought he would be, but he is definitely excited about the Fuentes coming in the mail.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Talk to you soon.

OH
MY
GAWWWWWDDDDDD

:eeek: :eeek: :eeek:

You are friggin amazing Annie!!!! I don't know what your bf is doin but wow, he must be doin SOMETHING right!!

Hey, if things don't work out w. ur bf, and then if Tiny Tim happens to fall through after that, then I'll be here!! :p

The humidity will go down after adding a bunch more sticks as the sticks will absorb the moisture. Give it some time for the humidity to settle/stabilize. Just don't over-humidify the humidor.

BTW, you are an awesome GF! WTG Annie! Sounds like you had a heck of a weekend!

If you're still having some trouble with the humidity, I'll sacrifice the space I have in my humi to store them sticks for ya. :D

Jeeeze. . . This guy better be worth it!

What do you do for a living?

Hearts guys!

Well the new humidor is much larger than his other one, and we were having problems getting the humidity get past 42. So I went back to the store yesterday and got another humidifer plus a little gel one, so 3 humidifiers in the humidor (probably overkill but we wanted to make sure it wasn't a problem with the humidor). Well I just found out on another forum that you're supposed to season the humidor, which we didn't do. Also, two of the humidifiers are Diamond Crown (50 bucks a piece) and apparently you're only supposed to use distilled water in those. Well I firmly believe I got hustled at the cigar store for this special water that was 8.50 a bottle. I got two bottles of that crap and that's what we put in the humidifiers. He also ended up putting some cigars in the humidor last night too. I'm worried that the special water will ruin the humidifier and that the cigars will be ruined.

I'm going to cry. Can someone help?

Use a tupperdor (sp?) as a temporary humidor, for now. Season your humidor then put the sticks in.

The water solution you purchased is most likely a distilled water and PG solution. It's fine. Just don't buy it next time, since distilled water from a grocery store is all you really need.

And yes, you need to "season" the humidor for several days BEFORE putting your cigars in it.

If you can, go back to the store and return the diamond crown systems and buy a cigar oasis. In the long run you will be happier and this device will season the humdor for you and autoregulate your humidity. There is a lot less babysitting involved with an oasis. I only recommend the new Oasis XL though becuase it comes with a built in hygrometer.

Now if you cant return them, dont worry about the solution. I have lots of Diamond Crowns and use solution all the time. They just advise you not to. IE when I bought my car they told me to use premium only, but you dont really have to necessarily.

If you dont get an oasis, you should season it, that is the missing component. But you should also consider getting a digital hygrometer if you dont have one already. Analog is historically very inaccurate in my book.

annie, tell that bf to get his ass on this forum, i dont think he knows just how good hes got it. i feel compelled to inform him lol.

You know what, someone should tell him. I don't think he knows. That's probably the last thing for him for a while.

Today he's not feeling well so he'll either go into seclusion or I'll go over and make him some lime jell-o to make him feel better.

annie your killin me lolol most of us here are married and i know for myself that if i even look at a cigar catalog im in trouble.....and dont even tell us you let him smoke in the house lololol most are outdoor smokers ...todays weather 20s maybe ..wind kicking up 6 or more inches of snow out there so you got that blowing.but your a great gf .....lucky guy :lol OH AND WELCOME ANNIE

Wow where are you from? Six inches of snow! In northern VA it's been really mild, springlike for the most part. Today is pretty windy and chilly though.
