Pipe tobacco cigars

I was trolling around tonight and saw the thread on pipe tobacco, and I'm in a quandary. I love the smell of pipe tobacco, but don't have the finances to take up another hobby.

I've mentioned this before, but I thougt I'd run it up again and see what I could find out. I know there are pipe tobacco cigars out there, but they seem to be either machine made, or non existant. I thought I'd actually found a source for handrolled stuff, but the site (and possibly the company) has gone tango utah, it appears.

Any recommendations?? The T company has their own version of this, but I don't want to wager on buying 50 sticks of something I may not like.

Am I SOL, or are there options?

Thanx

I smoke backwoods when im out fishing or doing something similar.

Yes I said I smoke backwoods.

I'd say just take up pipe smoking if you like pipe tobacco. Aside from maybe hand rolled cigarettes (I haven't done an economic analysis) a pipe is the cheapest thing you can smoke. No labor intensive rolling process and requirement for perfect wrapper leaves like cigars and no high taxes like manufactured cigarettes.
For the price of a decent cigar you can get many bowls and many times the smoking time in pipe tobacco. It's likely taking up pipe smoking will reduce your cigar consumption and actually save you money.

Many smoke shops have estate pipes that you can pick up at very reasonable prices, so you do not have to spend a lot to get started in pipe smoking.... If that is still too steep a price for you then there is another option.... now don't laugh! A corn cob pipe can be had for around three bucks. I would not smoke one in pupblic  , but they actually smoke pretty well in private. And before you start snickering, many people recommend a CC pipe for someone starting who wants to try many different kinds of tobacco because they do not hold a flavor like a standard Briar pipe will... if you want to try it, and have a hard time finding one, give me a PM. (the most common brand of cc pipe is also called a Missouri Meerschaum)

ok, now you can tee hee to your heart's content...lol

i also like smoking Backwoods when fishing, their a nice little smoke also i want to take the time a properly light a REAL cigar and have a nice leasurly smoke, ya know ......catching fish one after the other i dont have the time to properly smoke a real cigar, so backwoods are my escape, hehe

The pipes I bought are from the "seconds" bin (every shop has one). Less than $20 each. I unfortunately took his advice and got their mild tobacco. Mild? Yep, I take a draw and can't tell if there's smoke in my mouth or not -- Heck I even INHALED IT a few times and couldn't tell if I got any smoke or just air until I exhaled. <sigh> At least it was free. I'm going to order some recommended baccy tins, if that doesn't work out, there'll be some more "estate" pipes at the shop.

For cheap smokes (for fishing, mowing the lawn, etc) to keep the bugs off, I've been smoking Cuban Rejects. They're a "real" cigar (can get them at Lil' Smoke Shop online, and a lot of local stores carry them), and although not great, they're a lot better than the $1.32 each they cost me.

We should have group therapy for the backwoods confessions. I used to smoke them alot when I was quitting cigarettes. I don't anymore because I have time for me and my cigars. (and I am over cigarettes and inhaling)

Pipe smoke smells great, but I like cigars too much to split time.

Cigars that have pipe tobacco? I tried Dirt from Drew Estates. (my buddy is a rep, and he smoked one too) I won't again. It was mild tobacco, but the flavors were too much for me. I'll stick with premium all natural cigars.
