Anyone here use a V cutter? What if any are the advantages over a guitine cutter?

I have used one before. Obviously they dont work on beli's or torps. If your smoking a strong blend, you can get a bit more build up of tar than a straight cut.

They do draw pretty good. But if you are a full bodied kinda smoker, you may want to reconsider and stick with a scissor or double blade cutter.

I use them a lot. I love them, so neat and clean. I have discovered what bulz said, they don't let you get a full taste on the pallet. I only use them on my lesser smokes. They work really well though.

make an X (2 cuts). works for a bigger ring or strong sticks.

I have tried several types of cutters. I cannot say that I have ever tried a V-cutter though. I guess I have always thought of the type of cut as personal preference. I personally use punch and double guillotine cutters. I have also been known to bite the ends off.

Where's Vince the V cut man?

Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember Vince saying something about using a Vcutter...a big desk model maybe?

NOT TRUE , I use a v cut on all my torps, I just stick it in as far as it will go & pull the handle ( I have a table mounted V Cutter, it is about 8x10x12 clear lexan with brass gears & stainess blade , looks just great, I also have a pocket V Cutter, it opens up a torp just fine , I use it all the time on my short storys & monte #2's
Enjoy, Vince

Love the V-cutter. Keeps the cigar together longer. As for me I smoke at work, and the cigar seldom leaves my mouth. It also prevents tar buildup on the cigar.
