Cigar Oasis Polymer Conversion Question

Allright, my cartridge has finally gone dead on me with the addition of my two latest rounds of purchases. I am having to refill my oasis every few weeks now. I know some people, SuperT, Van55, and Axegod all do the polymer thing. But before I hack into my cartridge, just what is the benefit to using polymers? I know the stuff about unlimited refills and less mess if knocked over but does it last longer or at least as long? Are the polymers essentially just resevoirs for the water? I've searched all over the net including SuperT's post on Cigar Syndicate but it wasn't really explanatory, it just showed how to do it. Confused... :dunno:

Maybe not the answer your looking for -
I use my the beads along with my "set&forget"

basically a S&F is similiar to a CO but has 4 chambers for water.
Still I have a bowls with beads (big cabinet)
it keeps me from having to fill the S&F all the time

I went to CS and read Supter T's post. Tons of info and great pictures. My question is can you use heartfelt beads instead of polymers in the CO????

I would put them in something other than the CO.
It is a sealed unit and would not allow for the beads to do what they should. I have a plastic bowl filled with beads in my big humidor with the Set & Forget.
My Mine (which holds 20+ boxes) has only the beads in it.
Works great!
I thought abo0ut adding a CO to the mix, but really haven't had the need.
As for the other media - I have some (a gift from SuperT) but haven't played with them yet.
I was wondering the same thing?
