Okay,

I was at lunch today and smoked it again. Let me first start witha teaser that I smoked a prototype Cusano Sungrown (Dominican Wrapper) sample which is a cigar in the works from Cusano and when and if it ever comes out, hold onto your horses. Great cigar and I hope it finds its way to the market soon.

Now on to the question of the hour, Matasa 30th Anni. My initial opinions were all true. A surprisingly amazing cigar from the makers of Fonseca. Like I said, I am usually not to partial to their cigars but this cigar had a great flavor. I would compare it closely with the OpusX in terms of the flavor I was pulling off the wrapper. I highly recommend this cigar. Of all the cigars that debuted in 2005 I think this one is my favorite followed closely by the La Aurora 1495.

Look for the Matasa 30th Anniversary on Cigar.com next week but if you want one in the mean time, give us a call as we have them now. They will be online but not pushed very hard as I had a hard time getting ahold of what we have so far. Distribution is pretty thin. ENJOY.

alex, is there a particular size you would recommend over the other? maybe not since it sounds like you've only had two?

Sounds good, Alex!

And, how about sharing more info on the Cusano Sungrown? Ya know, I'm a Cusano fan too.

On the Matasa, I enjoyed the toro 6 x 54 I believe that I had. The only size is a perfecto which I am not particularly partial to that shap. If they made a 5.63 x 46 I would be all over it.

As for the sun grown I cant reveal much but I can say that it is amazing. Most Dominican Wrapped cigars are BIG $$$$ and if this comes out in usual Cusano fashion, I think we can count on it being 30% less than the competition. I thought it was increadable. A little green IMHO but that is becuase of its age. Needs a bit more time. When it comes out I think it will be huge. Ill keep you guys posted and perhaps mike will let us do a pre-release tasting or something so you guys can try it and give him your feedback before it goes public!! Ill see what I can do.
