My name is Adam, from Iowa. I was kind of against smoking until my brother introduced me to the cigar. I still am against cigarettes, just cause of the bad addiction. But the first cigar I tried was the good ol' Black and Mild, then I went to Swishers, then Dutch Masters. I was discussing cigars with a marine buddy and he recommended Arturo Fuente's. I stopped at the local Tobacco Outlet store and bought one for about 5 bucks. Now the Hy-Vee bought cigars put a bad burning taste in my mouth thats gross. When I lit up the fuente with a wooden cigar, there was no bad taste. It was great. It didnt have a strong odor, but it had a good burn and taste. I think its a good cigar. I plan on getting another one this weekend for when I hang out with my buddies.
Also, I dont know if any of you know this, but I had part of the Fuente with Juicy Fruit strupple berry bubble gum, and it made it taste even better! Idk why, but the gum in my mouth sort of changed the taste a little bit. I dont know if this is a good thing to do or not, but it tasted quite good.

anyways, im new. getting interested in the cigar subject and plan on smoking one every once in awhile just to test them out. I plan on getting a Montecristo White for a formal occasion coming up. can anyone tell me if those are any good? I read some good reviews on them.

wow...sorry this was supposed to go into the New person topic. Im not new to forums either. I feel dumb! hahaha

Hi ya Adam, Welcome to the forum. I think if you do a little back tracking of the posts here, you can learn lots. Pay close attention to these guys and your cigar smoking experience will mature. Have fun and enjoy life. Oh......get rid of the gum... :D  8)

I know you will learn a ton here.

I have smoked cigars for 11 years before I found this forum and I am learning everyday. Glad to have you in the forum.

Welcome to the forum. I may have had a Montecristo White or two in my time. I believe most Montecristo's, no matter which line, are probably on the smooth and mild side, which is just the way I like 'em. If the memory banks come up with anything specific on the Montecristo White, I'll get back with it.

Monte Whites are nice cigars, but I would also Recommend the Ashton natural.

Welcome to the forum Adam, lot to be learned about cigars.
This is a good place to get started, lots of good info here.

Welcome to the Zoo Adam, , , , you said you were talking to your Marine buddy, are you also a Marine?
Hurrrraw

Welcome to the our little slice of Cyber space Adam!! Ask away on the questions and someone here will definately guide you in the direction you need to go!

Monte white's are definately a good mild smoke, very safe cigar that goes well in many areas.

I myself enjoy a bit more heavier of a cigar, so I apologize for not being much in the way of suggestions, but there are plenty of knowledgabe folks here that I'm sure have all sorts of thoughts for you!!

Welcome aboard..

Paul

I bought a Arturo Fuente today, the Gran Reserva type. I didn't really know what to get, and since I liked the regular Fuente, I decided to go up a step and get the Gran Reserva. Its a big ol cigar. I will end up smoking it either tomorrow or this weekend with a nice cup o' joe.

Hi Adam.
You might try the Fuente Hemingway Short Story. It sounds like something you might enjoy.

Welcome Adam, it is good to have new guys around to add to the madness.

But, if you starf smoking Fuente now, how are you ever going to smoke anything cheaper!!! Have fun with your new cigar this weekend, and let us know how it turns out!!

Welcome to the forum. I'm a big fan of the Chateau Cuban belicosos and the Exquisitos maduros as are quite a few others around here.

Thanks everyone, ill let you know how it goes!
And Chris, I might have to get one of those for my next cigars. Thanks for the advice.

well my buddies and i had a smoke day. we went to my buddy's little cabin, weekend house and chilled around. I had an Arturo Fuente Canones, and two of my buddies had Montecristos. Mine was a good smoke. I smoked it with a class of Southern Comfort and Pepsi (no coke) and they went together pretty well. Then I made a glass of Black Velvet and pepsi. That too was fairly good. But it was a pretty good smoke. My buddies also enjoyed their Cristos.

Why no coke? We all know coke is better than pepsi in the long run....
