When did you start smoking Cigars?

I haven't seen a thread like this, and it'd be good for all of us new folks to chime in on. I'll start:

I started smoking gas station cigars about 3 years ago  (only once in a while!) Then started smoking premiums a little over a year ago, and have loved 'em since. For the record, I haven't smoked a machine made cigar in a year in a half. Forgive me guys?

Started smoking cigars a long time ago. Mostly cheap stuff and macadoodo's. I really started smoking back in August of 2005. I bought a box of hand rolled long filler domincan cigars to celebreate the birth of my son. I really liked them a lot and decided to try more stuff. I never looked back after that.

I had my first cigar a little over 7 years ago while in Mexico. What started with a single cigar has grown to a collection of nearly 1000! :D

I started smoking a little over three years ago. One thing i like about the hobby is that my tastes are still changing after so long of smoking....never gets boring

how about "How often do you smoke"
During the school year I will have one on the weekend or one on a Monday night while watching 24. Since it's summer, I am doing 1-2 a day.

I started off and on about 3 years ago. Didn't really get into it until November '05.

3-4 a week for me. Sometimes more, not ususaly less. If i work too much I just don't have time, but as long as i do it's 3 or 4 a week.

I smoked machine cigars in High school and stopped when i went off to college. i picked up cigars again about a year ago but this time premiums. I find the more i learn about cigars the more there is to know. its like an addiction to learning. i want to know more always.

I only smoke about 3-4 a week. usually on my days off ill smoke one... maybe two if its a great day outside.

"How often do I smoke?"

Maybe once a week, if I have the time. Else I go golfing and smoke. :D

I started in August of 1979. It was a Monte 4, and I never looked back. Never had a non-premium. I was lucky to have a cigar mentor.

I average two or so a day.

Can't say for sure? It started as a way to keeps bugs away while fishing - that was at least 11 or 12 years ago.
Been smoking seriously for the last 5 or 6.

And for the record I do smoke Machine made cigars>
There is some very nice Cuban Machine mades that are 10+ years old taht for the price can'r be beat!

I started about a year ago while in San Diego. I quit cigarettes right then and moved straight to premiums.

Lately I've been pretty busy with work and family stuff so I've only been smoking 1-2 a week as opposed the the usual 1-2 a day. I've been cleaning out my garage in my free time and am planning on partitioning off a small smoking room in there soon. Hopefully then I'll have a nice spot to relax and smoke more often.

I have smoked cigars since I was 13 years old, and I'm 27 now.

See, when I was little that (cigars) and booze wasn't taboo. I wouldn't think twice about cracking open a beer. My Dad used to be a drinker, but not a drunk. While I didn't know what he was thinking at the time.
He wanted me to be ok around that type of stuff, and not abuse it like some of my friends did in high school.

I never got drunk with my friends, never took up cigs, and never did drugs.

My first cigar was a Philly cigar, and it's a wonder it didn't ruin me on cigars forever!

I started chewing on machine cigars in about 1995 or 1996 when I was in the military. You couldn't light them in the field because the smell and the cherry could give away your position, and they were a nice alternative to plug tobacco since the cigar didn't make you salivate uncontrollably. My friends and I started smoking them once in a while and gradually progressed to premiums about 7 years ago, but I've only been serious about it for 3 or 4 years. I now enjoy 3 or 4 per week.

The day I turned 18 my Dad gave me a Romeo y Juliet to (in his words) "Break me in." Ever since then I've been off and on for the past 10 years, I really didn't start seriously smoking them till I met a fellow co-worker who shared the same likes and dislikes about certain brands that I did. Now, I've got a new humidor, and can't keep it full.

Usually 2-3 a week, if I golf than add 1 or 2 more.

Guess I'm the rookie. I smoked my first cigar in March of this year. However, since then, I've moved from mild, to mild-medium, to medium, and now to medium-full bodied cigars. I generally try to have one a night on weeknights, maybe two or three each on Saturday and Sunday. I never do anything halfway, though.

Just this past February while on a cruise. Picked up a couple in the smoke shop on board and enjoyed 'em quite a bit. When I got back, my son gave me a humidor with a few smokes in it and that was that. Now I'm up to around 60+ sticks in 2 humidors and looking for more.

I usually smoke 3-4 during the week and more on the weekend. I think I had 9 over the Memorial Day weekend while camping, but there was an extra day there.

I had my first cigar back about 1955 or so , I was just a kid, (still am just a kid ) , I smoked a pipe in school, never did like the taste of the little white paper tubes filled with cut tabacco, , I switched back & forth between a pipe & cigars when I was in the Navy, I had a storage problem there , you can put 4 pipes & 2 pounds of good pipe tobacco in the same space that one box of Double Coronas would take up, there were a lot of machine made cigars in the ships store & I did hit them till they were all sold, so I always had my pipe to fall back on, I switched to hand rolled Cigars about 30/35 years ago , I have a few Hoya #55's left over from my wedding , & this Aug. it will be 36 years . I smoke 3 to 5 cigars on an average day, & I smoke them ALL the way down to a nub, I have been known to finish them in a pipe to get it all ! Today was a good cigar day I had 7 , I just put down the last one of the day a few minutes ago, it was about 10:15 PM when I finished it, I had the first one of the day just after 6 am , it was a GOOD day .

Enjoy, Vince

Now Vince is a man of dedication. You won't catch me up that early smokin! Maybe in my dreams!
