Hello...

I'm new to the board and have been searching the posts. There is a lot of great information here. As with most newbies (I've only been smoking cigars for a month or so), I'm trying many different cigars. In fact, I haven't smoked the same one twice yet. I love it!

Anyway, I do have a question. Next month I'm heading to south-central British Cloumbia for a fishing trip. Not that I have a lot of experience yet to compare, but I'd like to try a true Cuban cigar. Can anyone direct me to a cigar shop in the 100 Mile House (or south) area?

Thanks

I'd like to clarify; I do NOT want to do anything illegal. I just want to take advantage of my travels. As far as I can tell, this doesn't break the forum rules. I hope not....

Thanks....

I don't know how the counterfeit trade is up there but I know there's a licensed Casa Del Habanos dealer in Vancouver if you go through there. I suspect you wouldn't have the same problems as say in the bahamas but so close to the border I'd be very wary.

Sorry I can't be of more help but good luck. And welcome to the forum.

Technically, it is still illegal for an American citizen to pick up Cubans while traveling, even if you smoke them while in Canada. However, the only place you might actually run into trouble is if you try to bring them back across the border.

Someone once convinced me that it was legal to bring back a box for personal consumption. But for some nimble thinking on my feet, I would have lost them coming through customs on my way in from Jamaica.

Good luck; enjoy your travels!

That used to be the case but they've tightened restrictions. A friends father was coming through customs though and had two in his shirt pocket. He told them that they were for personal consumption and they let him pass though. I think its a crapshoot really.

Soup is correct:

Also know in Canada prices are very high.
a $10 cigar will cost $20 or more.
