Guys,

As you know I am very new to cigars. I have not bought a humidor yet but today I won this auction on ebay. Tell me what you think and give me some feedback.

for $49.99 including shipping

The seller says it holds up to 300 sticks, I am not so sure of that though. I also bought this as well.

for $37.99 including shipping

He says this one will hold up to 100 sticks. I am thinking this number is exagerated as well.

Give me some feedback, did I get a good price?

I wouldn't call that a 300. It's more like the size of my 100, and even then they're usually rated for small cigars. (ie- coronas)
That said, $50 is a good price for a 50-100 count as long as it has a good seal and is of quality construction. My 70 count was around $90 in a shop and the finish isn't as pretty. It's impossible for me to tell that without examining it. Construction quality is just a physical examination, like any wooden box. As for the seal, the lid should close tightly and if you drop it closed from a couple of inches you should hear a "whoosh" sound.
The second one's also not a 100. The ad says 50 in some spots and 75 in others. I wish they're just measure these things in cubic inches or something sensible. But again, $38 isn't a bad price as long as it's a decent humi.
Also, I'd ditch those round credo humidifiers & analog hygrometers. Get some beads or the "crystal" stuff. The credos don't work nearly as well for keeping humidity stable, and analog hygrometers are notoriously inaccurate.

It looks like a great deal. I would think that it would be a bit small,,, You hang around here and you are going to need a MUCH larger Humi. But it is the way that most people here started..No way will I have more than 100 sticks. LOL

Well they are smaller than I would have wanted but, it does seem like I got them for a decent price. I am not too dissappointed. I did want something that held at least 300 cigars.

Guess, it's a good thing I got 2 of em... lol

I bought the first one from this guy and it is nothing like the description, I aslo got a good price,,,,,, for junk. The beveled glass is plexi-glass, the humidifiers are velcroed in and they fell off the first day. He did send me 25.00 back, but with his outragous shipping it still cost me 35.00 for junk. I hope you havent pd. for this yet. I finally had to file a complaint with paypal before he answeared his emails.
GOOD LUCK.

ouch, unfortunately...

I did pay! I guess I will just have to see when it gets here. Thanks for the reply. Live and learn...

I will keep you posted.

You can find a good foot locker size humidor at cheap humidors or tampa humidor. The deals are good for the price you pay. Check them out if you're looking for something a bit bigger.

another name

this guy has another name also, it's gadgetbestbuys, an some others. Just beware that's all. His explaination for having plexi-glass instead of beveled glass is the glass breaks in shipping.
When I was in the navy way back in the 70's, the chief who trained us had saying,,,,," excuses are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink." Thathas been with me ever since, and that is all this guy has.
Just wanted to warn anyone else who is thinking of buying from him. I should have posted this earlier, and maybe saved some from making my mistake.
