I have had 5 Opus X's and honestly don't see what the big deal is. The only thing that is so special to me is that they are so rare. Personally I'd much rather spend half as much on a better cigar or two. I mean it wasn't bad but it also wasn't the greatest I have ever had. Oh well to each his own[/s]

First off, welcome cgar_smoker87. Glad you found the place.
There are quite a few folks who would agree with you on the Opus X.

Personally, I like 'em.

I'm a big fan of the spice factor and strength of an Opus X. I've smoked my fair share of the Perfecxions and they've always had a nice draw, robust flavor, and were pretty strong to boot.

Personally for the price I'd rather have an Ashton VSG.

hey thanks for the welcome. Yeah i like them too. Yeah VSG's are one of my favs.

I concur. Though, I am a cigar noob and some would say that my pallette needs to mature more to fully appreciate a cigar of that caliber. I would rather grab a handful of my current fav- Punch Rare Corojo Rothschildes. I plan on trying an OPUS X again soon. Probably the XXX size.

The same happens with wine.
Just because they cost more doesn't mean everyone is gonna like them...but I do too.

I could see there being a let down since they are hyped up so much.
But pretty much everything Fuente makes is a solid product. To me it's more than just a stick of tobacco that I send to its fiery demise, it's about the love that goes into creating an Opus X which is evident in appearance, feel, taste, and aroma.

I'm looking at the xXx which I'll smoke in about 6 hours when I meet up with one of my classmates, and it looks incredible. There are no loose spots and the point is perfectly centered. Smells like holiday spices, dried fruit, nuts and wood. It feels nearly as heavy as the RP '92 I just finished. Looking in the foot I can see the different shades of the filler tobacco neatly bunched together. Plus there is a nice oily sheen covering the entire cigar.

My only problems are the burn - one side always takes longer than the other, and having to relight them.

I was off of VSG's for a while, but my cousin sent me some while I was at school and I'm enjoying them again.

some Opus are great, and others are duds...I think it really just depends. I smoked a petit lancero the ther day, and didn't like it one bit...then a little while ago, I msoked a Super beli form 04 that was just outstanding...

I will say that Opus have a flavor and aroma that no other cigars in the market have. There aren't many other cigars with that distinction today, but they are out there - La Aurora is another one I can thinki of off hand.

I love opus, but I also love about 1000 other cigars!!

anyone who has opus's and doesnt like them, please let me know, i have started a free service where you can ship them all to me and i will dispose of them properly.
thank you.

Can't say whether or not I like them because I've never smoked one. But that will all change shortly. My birthday is just around the corner and I have an Opus Double Corona that has been sitting in the humi since April just for that day. Let me telly ya, I can't wait to fire that baby up!!

And who said BP wasn't around anymore - his spirit is alive and well!!

Opus X is a damn fine cigar.
It has lots of flavor without sacrificing the subtlety.

However, what some places charge for them is crazy.

$30+ a pop? They're good, but not that good.

I want to join. My three favorite cigars are White owl, backwoods, black and mild. I will send them right out.

I think I'd like to smoke one, mostly just so I can say "I smoked an Opus X". I'm sure its a damn fine cigar, like all Fuentes as far as quality and construction goes. But my price range has me close to the Hemingway line...

As a big fan of Opus X, I can say that it is one of my favorite cigars. The great thing about all cigars, however, is the variety. We can all find what we like whether it be Opus, Padron, RYJ, etc...
