and yes, its 3:00 am and i've had a bit to drink

first, went to teatro goldoni which is a fantastic restaurant in d.c. which serves italian food in the venetian tradition, my fiancees freind works there and we got HOOKED up, prolly near a $200+ bill for 75 bux, food was fantastic, had a ribeye with truffle oil and figs, lotsa wine...i tipped the waiter well and left a Pueblo Dominicana in the "bill holder" for him as my fiancees friend said a cigar would make his night...

then went to Cafe Milano, another premier italian restaurant in d.c. where fiancee's friend used to work, and hung with the gm and maitre d' all night and drank champagne and makers mark (one of my favs) for cheap...i enjoyed a fantastic VSG and it was perfect...

then went next door to the billiard bar, and had a couple blue moons, girls had champagne, and i had a Matasa 30th anniversary which was perfect as well

just a great night all around, we all need nights like this once in a while

sorry for the tangent, good night all

I love Blue Moon. It used to be "undiscovered", now everyone and thier brother drinks the stuff!

that sounds like a night id love to have.

i like blue moon as well. if you want a (in my opinion) better belgin wheat ale then go with "hoegaarden wit"

its simaler to blue moon just with more taste.

It's insane how we all think alike. We should form a political party and take over Congress.

:D :D :D

Sounds like a very nice evening. Enjoying the finer things in life. What more could a man ask for....

well, feeling a lil rough this morning, lol but had a great time

capt- i hear ya on the blue moon, i remember when me and my buds used to get so excited when we actually stumbled on a place that had it, now it seems its everywhere...still great though, a really distinct and different taste to it...

thanks kuzi, i'll give that hoegardaan (sp?) a try...

rmr- so true, no matter what ya do, if you can enjoy a couple cigars its always a good night!

Bob- love yeungling too!

I'm a big beer guy and have very diverse taste, but I've never been able to get into the wheat beers....even in the summer.

I had a few in me when i was told but I think Blue Moon is distributed by Budweiser and that is the reason it is served in five million more bars then it was two years ago.

its now in all applebees in NE ohio. that may be a national thing soon. maybe it already is.

I always thought that Blue Moon was a weak attempt at a commerical hefe-weizen, to each their own though, I'm glad you had a good time HighPSI. Heres a hint for you Blue Moon guys out there, next time try a cigar paired with a good Belgian Trappist ale such as Chimay, Corsendonk or Duvel. One magnum of those ales will set you back as much as six Blue Moons but you will not be dissapointed, trust me.

HighPSI, I just noticed that you reside in D.C., any advice for cigar friendly lunch spots in town near the National Mall/White House area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cloudy-
You want to go to Shelly's Back Room, its about 3 blocks or so from the white house and maybe five blocks from the mall. http://www.shellysdc.com

one of my favorite places in dc...everything from sandwiches to a full meal, stock humidor and lockers, flat screens, great bar, couches...
i love their cuban sandwich personally...

when are you gonna be in town? work or pleasure?

HighPSI: I won't be there until over the holidays, I spend the post Christmas-pre New Years time with my g/f's family who reside in Fairfax County VA. Usually what happens is I get one day where I venture into D.C. alone and check out whatever I fancy. I could swear that I have been to that bar you mentioned, I remember it being cigar friendly but at the time I didn't smoke, just went in and had a couple glasses of Basil Hayden and a sandwich. I do remember it being very close to the White House, matter of fact I was walking back from there when I noticed the place.

Anyways, when I do know a little more about this year I will let you know and if you are up for it, maybe we can meet for lunch and a smoke.

Sounds like a good night ! dammmm I want to come to DC & Visit !
Enjoy, Vince

Cigars and booze aside, D.C. is an absolute blast to visit. Air and Space Museum, National Art gallery, International Spy Museum, Korean, Vietnam and WWII war memorials, Museum of the American Indian...Tons of stuff to do and experience, I love that city.

cloudy- that sounds good man, definately let me know whenever your in town

vince and anyone else- if you ever get to visit we should for sure get together for a smoke, hell i'll even play tour guide and if i know early enough before ya come i may be able to hook up some pretty cool tours of some places (cap/wh in particular)

High, I have a friend who lives in DC who I'm gonna try and visit. If I ever find myself in DC we definitely gotta hang out, man!
