Went to Don Pepe's on Mcarter hwy(Newark) last night. It just might be my favorite thus far. The Sangria and bread were exceptional. The shrimp in garlic sauce was excellent and a huge portion for an appetizer. I had Veal cutlets in a sherry and brandy sauce that was excellent. The wife had one of the specials "Penne with lobster, scallops and shrimp in a pink sauce". the sauce would have to be described as a garlicky vodka sauce. It was incredible.

After dessert at home(Amish Market Pecan Pie), this fine meal was finished off with a Perdomo Rosado torpedo that was rolled in front of me by Raul of Perdomo at a JR event, and some Glenfiddich 15.

Oh man, I am so hungry right now thinking about the food there. That shrimp is a killer - I am hooked on that stuff - what a night for you and your wife! When things calm down we definitely have to meet up there for a nice dinner - that place is phenomenal!

Thanks for sharing - but now it is killing me to think of the menu over there.

Sounds good!!

The Newark Spanish/Portuguese food is going to be missed when I move to NC after retirement. We'll just have to make trips back to the area for all our favorite foods. They never heard of Pork Roll in NC.

Just got back from the Outerbanks - we brought our own!

Nice choice on where to live for retirement - that is one beautiful state. I'll overnight the pork roll to you.
