After the Cardinals claimed the World Series, I was walking around Busch Stadium with my friends and visited ballpark staples such as Mike Shannon's, TGIF, Hooters, and Paddy O's.
At each of these locations, I spotted individuals celebrating with a stogie in their hands and laughing it up with the rest of the Cardinals fans. The shock part of this observation was that ALL of these individuals were smoking Cohiba Qs.
Now, I'm pretty impressed by seeing just one person smoking a Cohiba around the ballpark. But 4 or 5 spread throughout downtown St. Louis? That's crazy.
The topper to the Cohiba madness was that I had eventually found the source to all of these nice stogies. A very drunk individual was hanging around Mike Shannon's with a cedar box in his lap with a glass top. I looked at the contents of the box and instantly recognized at least 20 or so Cohiba Qs just sitting there waiting for someone to light them up. The drunk guy was definately enjoying the atmosphere and looked like he savored those stogies.
I couldn't ask the guy about the smokes or whether or not they were for sale since I was with my friends who were both nonsmokers and we just wanted to head back to the car.
I didn't get tickets to the game, but I was next to that stadium from the first pitch to the closing of most of the downtown shops. Great game, great fans, and a great night. No riots today, just fans embracing each other and slapping out a bazillion high fives.
