Looking for a good butane flame lighter

Like the title suggests, I'm looking for a good, decently priced, butane flame (not torch) lighter. Everywhere I look has the torch lighters but no flame lighters. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd go for either a Sillem or IM Corona "Old Boy" style. Nibo makes copies of these for a fraction of the cost as well. I like Zippos as well, but if you use them for cigars, you need to let the fuel burn for a few seconds before you light up with it.

There he is! GW's been working you too hard! Why no torch? If not a torch, I'd second the zippo

[thread hijack] while yall are on the subject of lighters i had a brain fart when i tried to tell my friend about the insert to go in a zippo it was called a z something or other

z-plus.

i think colibri makes some soft flame lighters. dont ask me about the price. i have no need for soft flame.

I purchased a Colibri about a month ago or so, that does both soft flame and torch. It has a light on the side, and the flame gets a fancy color to it as it burns (whoopie), I guess its to impress your friends when you are out clubbing.

Anyway, it was inexpensive, and so far seems to be working well. There you go brother!!

I dunno, the torch lighter has just never appealed to me. Just never felt the need to light my cigar with a jet engine. Just a personal pref. I currently use a Bic, but was just wanting to see if there was anything to step up to, butane-wise.

As far as the GW, yeah, being in the shipyard stinks. Gotta get her all ready to change home ports to Japan in a couple years. Whoop-di-doo. Haha.

The best lighter I have is a butane torch that I got at Home Depot. Sure! You look like a crackhead with it, but it's cheap and it's reliable.

i bought a 10 dollar butane lighter at the smoke shop last night and it was almost empty after smoking three smokes in the last 24 hours so i refilled it and now it wont even light wtf?! guess i need to get a good quality one

gotta use a good fuel, stay away from the colibri stuff.

I like the victor stuff.

also I bought a cheap barb-q lighter from home depot that works great, and has lasted about a year and half or so. I have a fancy one for when I'm out, but I don't use it to often these days

Try purging the lighter and then refilling. Depress the valve on the bottom until it doesn't hiss or let anything out. Then refill. A lot of lighters are filled with a little bit of an inert gas IIRC before they are shipped, and you have to pruge this otherwise no fuel will get in. This is also a practice you should use everytime you refill.

Also, as cooks said, use quality butane that's refined a minimum of three times. I use vector as well which is refined 5 times.

wow. ive used colibri fule in my xikar exclusivly and i havent even had one mislight. every time first try.

I use a Xikar lighter ($20) and Lotus fuel. Works fine for me, but I have to refuel after about five cigars.

I think it all depends on the mechanism for the lighter. If its really simple, you might even get away with Ronson. I used Colibri fuel for a long time and thought it was great. Then I ordered a can of Vector and will never go back to Colibri.

nvm im an idiot when i refilled it i turned the output screw accidentally so it was off, its fixed. *wusker sheakes his head
