Well no sleep and and idea can lead to this. Somebody talked about using beads but I wanted to see em so I would know when they needed more water so I went one step further. I used the top off the small cartridge for the top of my new improved model.

What do you think??

Travis:

Mind if I ask what you used for the bottom? That is tremendous and I am redoing my CO this weekend with polymers (yes, Chris...finally!)

Thanks,

Kevin

nice.

it makes me want to buy a 500ct and a CO just so i can do that.

its kinda hard to hide a 500ct, though.

did you just make the bottom? what did you use? What glue did you use? (if you used glue)

Very nice Travis!!! I am with Kevin, please share how you rigged the bottom container and what you used. Darn these forums are informative.

The box itself is all plexiglass including the bottom. Held together with plexiglass glue. I only had a small piece of plexi I am thinking making another one thats bigger? Anybody think there would be a limit on the useful size of the container?

Being that the only dumb question asked is the one not asked. I have a newbie question on the beads in the plexi box. How fast do they produce humidity being that you are basically sucking the humidity from them with the CO instead of natural evaporation. I do apologize if this is a completely silly question though.

They look like polymers to me. all the polymers do is hold a LOT of water. they do not regulate humidity. They are a much more efficient wayto hold water than the Credo that comes in a CO

Ok here is my second one. This one is a bit bigger.

So here's the obvious question: Travis, can i talk you into building these for me with my Oasis? If so PM me with what you would charge.

I knew somebody might ask and I was thinking of putting some on ebay so I ordered some plexi Saturday. I am out of glue now so I ordered some of that on the net. Will let you know when I am done. Anybody got and old factory tanks? I need the tops off them to make the new ones.

To add to Bill's question. Are they beads or Polymers?
They appear to be polymer gel crystals (polyacrylamide), of the type sold by this company: http://www.crystals.us/ (just one vendor among many).

Many people add a spoonful of alcohol (no, not your Friday night hooch) to the moistened gel crystals to help inhibit mold spores. Don't overbuy these. A lil' goes a loooooong way. A lifetime, really.
