Professionally, I smoke cigars, but on the side I....

I was just checking to see if people wanted to talk about what they do professionally... because I suspect that there has got to be a relationship between certain professions and cigar smoking... For instance... I am a graduate researcher... not a whole lot of cigar smokers in my neck of the woods... but I am changing career paths (coincidentally) and I'll be starting up med school in a few months... I figure there are a few more cigar smokers in that arena (despite the overplayed taboo risk factors). I'm okay with smoking cigars alone, but I figure there are some fields where everyone has a cigar in the their pocket.

Cigar Dave makes me feel that everyone smoking a cigar is in the Army... is there any relationship? There are a lot of good guys in Mil Medicine (one potential career direction)....
Any of you guys want to add anything?

I'm an Airline Pilot. There is nothing better than a good day of flying then ending up at your overnight destination and looking forward to a good stogie. I could be in Amsterdam, Madrid, or Quito Equador and we change out of uniform and find the bar or pool and light up. Nice ending to the day. Another perk is the availability of (shhhh) Qbans. :>)

I'm a graphic & web designer / photo retoucher in Seattle (which has a bearing as well I believe). And no ... no other cigar smokers I know of. Most seem to seem slightly bemused when they find out I do. Plenty of cigarette smokers though.

I am a business analyst and I wait tables. Tehre is no connection to either job. Unfortunately I do most of my smoking by myself as I do not know too many guys around me who like them. I also have small children so that limits my time to get out of the house and meet up with people.

I'm an IT systems analyst working for a bank. I don't know of anyone that I work with that enjoys pipes or cigars. There are several cigarette smokers.

Studied Pre-Med and Psychology, ended up as an engineer at an aerospace company. Go figure.

I'm a computer programmer and a volunteer firefighter. No one at my day job smokes at all (one guy chews) and several of the firefighters smoke both cigarettes and cigars, though they rarely smoke the cigars at the station. I smoke most of my cigars on my back porch or at my friends house sitting at his fire pit.

When to school for filmmaking. I now work in the accounting department for the library. I do video projects on the side, for a not-for-profit.

Now that you can't some in bars, I don't smoke much.

Doc-T...what??

I never knew that, PM sent...

Similar to brewmeister, I'm an undergraduate researcher for this summer. We're working on a hybrid rocket engine as well as a micro-scale pulse detonation engine. Full time student otherwise. I'm pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering at Penn State. Cigars are the only thing that keep me grounded when I'm doing massive quantities of problems in Fourier series and other "fun" stuff.

Wow Bob, looks like you're into to "torching" things up! haha.

Anyway, I'm in the communication satellites arena. Yes, pyro is part of a satellite, but that's another division outside my area.

I am in sales for a Tire Manufacturer. No BOTL that I know of, but a lot of dippers, chewers and cigarette folks.

I sell forklifts! How's that?

The only connection between cigars and my job is...I wish I had a shipment of cigars on a pallet!

BTW, Vince does not "work"; he's a professional cigar smoker!!! (if there ever was one!)

I am an associate principal of a grade 10-12 high school. Before becoming an administrator I was a math and physics teacher.

I'm a Technical Analyst in the Operations department for a software company. Basically we work non-stop trying to keep the our big turd of a software product up and running in a state that our clients can actually use it.

I am a asphalt plant manager/operator and materials tester for
construction company. Several of the guys I work with enjoy a cigar from time to time. But not as much as I do.

I am medic in the Army. I don't know about a connection between cigar smokers and the army but there is a whole lot of cigarette smokers in the army.
