cigarettes that is. Finally. I woke up two weeks ago and said the hell with it. No urges, cravings or hangover at all. Once in a while I smoke a Torano Gold mini-cigar in the morning but I am closing that habit out as well. At the moment I smoke seven or eight cigars a week, that will not change anytime soon. :) What I have found out is that my palate seems to be a lot more refined and able to pick up on more of the subtleties in my cigars. Another bonus - that $5 a day on cancer sticks now goes towards finer tobacco products.

I smoked a 3 Siglos Churchill tonight, a cigar that I thought was kind of one dimensional before. Post-cigarette habit, this is anything but one dimensional. Great smoke: some toffee, wood, and leather taste to it. Highly recommended.

I now get to revisit a bunch of cigars and see what I think second time around plus I am no longer potentially commiting slow suicide. Good deal huh?

Great job Cloudy, stick with it. I quit smoking cigarettes 10yrs ago and have never looked back, and can definitely say your palate and sense of smell (which has a lot to do with taste) will both improve a great deal.

The extra 5 bux a day is just a small bonus. The real bonus is in the potential health risks you'll be saving yourself further down the road.

Congratulations, man! I quit 16 years ago this coming Friday. I never forget because it was also my wedding day. I know it's not an easy thing - but keep going buddy - it's worth it.

Way to go brother. I used to have the occasional smoke when I drank or partied, but that quit back in 04. I can't stand the smell of them now.

Congratulatons, it's a major accomplishment. I quit 1/2 close to 2 years ago. I wish I could say I did it myself but I had a laser treatments...went through a tough week and never looked back. I was most concerned when we went to vegas, I figured I would break down, but brought along a good cigar or two and did fine.

Congrats man, I have been wanting to do the same thing, but have yet to pull the trigger. Hope I can find the strength as of yet. I think my wife would appreciate me just smoking the occasional cigar, rather than cigar and a pack sometines plus a day.

I am trying to quit too. I started smoking again when the divorce started, now I find it hard to quit.

BTW, the 3 Siglo's are one hell of a cigar!

congrats cloudy, i quit as well just recently two weeks ago on my birthday

Good job Cloudy. Those things will kill you! It's been 9 months now for me. After 23 years of pack and a half smoking, it was definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Keep it up brother!

Thanks a lot guys. All the congratulations are much appreciated.

Ryan and Craig- good luck to you guys. I wish there was some magic formula I knew for quitting but unfortunately there isn't one that I know of. I'm pretty lucky in that I can't smoke on the job so that kills eight hours of idle time each day. The rest of the day is pretty much willpower and looking forward to getting home and sparking that tasty cigar.

Good for you brother!! Now, think of all the money you are going to save not buying cigarettes that can be spent on cigars. Wahoo!!

Congratulations!!! That is great news. I quit about 4 years ago. I can't stand the smell of them anymore. Keep up the fight.

Sam

I quit Cigars about 8 to 10 times a day , never smoked cancer sticks if you counted all that I have tasted I dont think it would add up to one pack, & that includes the ones I rolled myself ! , Keep up the good work, start your day with a Don Carlos #3 right after breakfast with a pot of coffee, dammmm great way to start the day, I have been doing it like that for YEARS !
Enjoy, Vince

Way to go Cloudy! It just shows how a little will power will go a long way. I smoked my last cigarette on March 31, 1987 (after 15 years of a pack-a-day) and ran in the Detroit Free Press marathon 7 months later in October (3 hours, 50 minutes), and never looked back.

Congrats, brother!
