Going through my box of bands thinking of something to do with them I got to thinking what bands do you think are the best? I know that the band has nothing to do with the flavor of a cigar however I am sure they have allot to do with sales. The Gurkhas seem to have nice bands on there cigars and change then a little for each different cigar. After watching the Opus vid you get an idea of how much effort and thinking went into making there band.

What band do you like the most and why.

So far mine would have to be the Gurkhas I like the art and the way they vary it cigar to cigar.

I agree with you on the Gurkhas 100%.
Then I would have to say CAO for the color schemes.
Eye catchers for sure.

i like the band for "La Aroma De Cuba"

I have never smoked a pre-embargo cuban cigar. However, the cuban style art and mebelishments on it make it look like its from an era before my own. Always been one of my favorite bands.

edit:
i just noticed that "cuban" isnt filtered to "Q-ban" anymore.

Ive grown so used to the filter that actually seing the word "Cuban" is strange.

The Ashton ESG is a beautiful.

Yes it is. 100 Anos and RP Olde World are two others that are good looking.

Tatuaje gets my vote for worst looking band.

well the Tats are not all that different that the famous band in my avatar, really....

nothing makes my mouth water more than the sight of the edge band at the foot of a rocky patel edge maduro. Oh by the way....my local B&M had Rocky Patel at a meet and greet for his new release the "decade". What a cool guy Rocky is. I shook his hand, and he lit my edge lite missle....what can I say I was a little star struck.

Ok...well then Rob, you get my vote for worst looking avatar.

Jeremy, good deal brother!

I agree with Steve the ESGs are good looking but my fav is OpusX.

And the tats arent so bad... I mean come on they got the Fleur de Lis.. :D

Of course there are the Thompson house brands too if ya wanna talk about pure beauty...

I'm a graphic designer by trade so I think about this kinda stuff too much :D

Despite the disappointing smoke, my favorite band design is the Drew Estates La Vieja Habana. Very bright and bold with some homage to history. I like his Natural band design as well.

And count me among the Gurkha fans as well. There's a opulence to them without being overdone. Very representative of the brand.

I keep wanting to like CAO's designs, as they have a bit of a cutting edge vibe to them as a whole, but I often find them lacking. They need more "oomph".

They may not be my favorite smoke, but I really like the Opus X bands. No real reason why; they just appeal to me. I also like the ERDM habana bands; those are cool too.

I like the Torano bands, and Cuesta Rey Centro Fino Sun Grown.

I like the cigars they come on too.

I like the 5 Vegas bands and the Series 55 bands. I guess the numbers distinguish them from other brands. Of course Gurkha have great bands and I've got to agree w/Kuzi on the la Aroma de Cuba bands. I bought one about a week or 2 ago simply because I like the classic look of the band. Not sure if the cigar is any good, but it sure looks nice sitting at the top of my humi.

The Tatuaje bands are not a favorite of mine because they look ghetto. It has nothing to do with the Fleur de Lis. I will give credit to Pete Johnson, I bet those labels cost next to nothing to produce.

Dean, good call on the Torano, especially the Exodus Gold.

The Illusione cigars have pretty cool labels as well.

Bottom line, Ashton ESG band is the most beautiful and complex band there is. I have it for my wallpaper on my desktop. The level of detail and the number of different colors it takes to make those is unbelievable. Both the Opus and Forbidden Opus bands are really cool too. In the Forbidden DVD Carlito talked about how he kept worrying about the packaging, ie. the band, so much that his dad finally forced him to choose the final cut so they could send out the cigars. He told him he was going to ship them without packaging because holding them in the warehouse was costing so much.

My favorite qban band is the Bolivar.

Hands down....Thompson Iguana. I mean comoe on....it has an Iguana on it

The Cuban Cohiba bands get my vote...probably one of the most famous bands in the world.

I second the cohiba, I also like the Padron, Tats, and Montys beauty can be simple.

The Ghurka bands are cool. While the Opus X bands are cool (if I must be honest), I have a hard time liking them because of all the Opi I have smoked, none of them has really wow-ed me.

Another really cool band is the Felipe Gregorio Power. I like that one a lot too.

Of course, there must be something said about simple old bands that have stood the test of time. Every cigar smoker recognizes them... Cohiba, Montecristo, Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey, and others. While they will not win any prizes at the art festivals, they are instant name recognition.
