Possibly a taboo question ...

Hi all,

I apologize in advance if this is a taboo topic. Are Cigars International and Cigar.com the same company, or do they have some affiliation? I've ordered from both and it seems that the orders were fulfilled at the same warehouse.

I know this forum is based from Cigar.com, but is CI somehow looked down upon?

In the end it doesn't really matter I guess, I've had good experiences with both companies, it's more my own curiosity than anything. Thanks for the hlep.

They are not the same company but they do share a warehouse. If you look more closely you will see that they offere differeent services; CI is more about giving you great deals and selling volume; cigar.com is more service driven and offers some higher end cigars. both companies are good; but I tend to like cigar.com much better as you will not find a better sales staff than theirs. They know their stuff and always give good honest suggestions. I hope this helps.

Hi Chuck and welcome to the forum.

I was pretty much typing the same thing as Dave. It really depends what you like - CI is not looked down upon here at all. Alot of us prefer the service at Cigar.com. Alex at Cigar.com will offer us the Friday specials in advance and has helped us out with group buys and such in the past.

That being said, no matter where you bought them - we look forward to you sharing your experiences here.

Not taboo at all....

I am not going to re post what the others have said, but I have bought from both, I just prefer Cigar.com.

My question would be: why share a warehouse?

For what it matters, I always thought that they were two different branches of the same company - CI for the volume and C.com for the higher end stuff.

Doesn't matter anyways, both are great companies to deal with.

They share the same fulfillment, but the difference stops there. Cigar.com has top-notch customer service, better hard-to-find selection, and you can order singles. Who doesn't like that? Nobody doesn't like Cigar.com

Thanks all for the information.

I had ordered some maduro sampler from CI, and while their site/catalog had the fine print "substitutions may occur due to inventory conditions" they did make a substitution in the order that I had placed. Rather than replacing what was probably one of the more expensive cigars in the sampler with something else, they substituted a larger size of the same brand as advertised. I figured their fine print would give them an easy way out. It was nice to see the company do the stand-up thing (seemingly).

Given the positive feedback about cigar.com, I'll have to spend more time browsing them, but I have been happy with the service I've received from CI.

Thanks again all ...

Just to put a different slant on the answer, I buy most of my inexpensive 5.00 or less from CI/Cigarbid.com. They are the same company, sort of. I don't usually buy the more expensive cigars via the internet. I like to look at what I am going to buy before I buy.

this is a friendly business....but I would find it hard to see that Holt's would share a facility with anyone, it's not that friendly!

I ordered some cigars from another site, not Cigar International. My delivery was stale, I smoked three out of the 25, they burned like a canoe. I sent them back, it was a hassle but finally had my card credited back two weeks later. I have not tried Cigar International, Cigar.com has treated me well.

I have to jump in on this one. First thing....Welcome to the forum! :p Second, I agree with the other guys and can't say it better. I can, however, give you my story, so I will. Many times I have bid on and won a great deal from CI (Cigarbid). I know that I am going to throw away a couple of cigars from my order. I only bid on boxes because the boxes are sealed (kinda). I also know that the CI cigars are going to sit in my #2 Humi for a period of at least 2 mounths. I have the cigar oasis and lots of room so this is not a problem. They ship DHL and quite frankly DHL bites the big banana. One time I called and was told that they just ran out of drivers and my order would be there a couple of day late. Well, let's see, a couple of days at 150* in the back of a freaking truck.....Yeah I use my #2 humi as a quarantine.

Now.....When I order from Cigar dot com, I talk to Donny. I expect and recieve the best service in the industry. My Cigars are on my front steps in 3 days and packed with bubble wrap and humi packs and zip lock bags and always a little surprise. They go right in my big humi and I usually somke one right away.

Here's my point. Cigar dot com is Macy's, Ci is K-Mart. Sorry but this is my opinion and my experience. If CI has an issue with me.......bring it! I am right here! Ya know, 2 times my order has been miss-placed and shipped from CI when I placed the order with Donny. They mixed up the boxes down stairs. Thank God they were packed by Cigar dot com. They were late, but they were fine. In closing........When you want the very best product, service and price, Buy from Cigar dot com. When you want a deal and you are willing to take a chance....well you know. With Cigar dot com you can call Donny and he will fix the problem, the other direction is not so, how shall I say, comfortable. So there is my story, I'm stickng to it. Cigar dot com will always get the Lyon's share of my business. :D

The one thing I like a lot about Cigar.com is they ship w/the humipaks. I live in the desert, I don't want my cigars all dried up by the time I get them. For the life of me I can't figure out why CI/Cbid doesn't do the same. It would cost them what, maybe 10-20 cents per order their cost? This makes a big difference when you're buying the Graycliffs, God of Fire, or other pricey lines. Also, like foodislife, I get them in about 3 or 4 days tops, not 7-10 days. That being said, I have gotten some nice deals at CI/Cbid, but when it comes to customer service and a bit more care in packing, Cigar.com rules. Don't take this as a bash to CI/Cbid. It's more constructive criticism and the honest truth. There are some great deals to be had at Cbid, but I wouldn't be so quick to buy my top shelf smokes from them.

First of all I don’t like Cigar.com…

I love them.

EVERY order has been correct and has been delivered very fast.

CI has been fine too for me. I have ordered a couple of boxes from them and I can’t say that I have been disappointed. In fact I have been very happy with them.

I have taken advice from this forum and won’t order from the dreaded “T” company. I don’t like to be pestered! I am a salesman and I know what drives people to NOT buy from you even if you have the best deals in the business. That said I do think that CI is a little cheesey with their catalog while Cigar.com is more top of the line.

I agree that cigar.com is better at service. I also agree that they are more top of the line.

the only thing that keeps me going to CI is their friday night fights.

They offer 10/20 cigar deals where they pair up two different cigars and sell them as a package deal. They supposedy match them up by flavor profile and strength, something to that affect. I've never tried any of those deals, but I have tried some of the brands. They seem to be pretty decent deals, but I'm certainly no expert.

they pair two simaler cigars against each other. for example:
Torano Virtuoso v. Punch Gran Puro

i would post prices but that may cross the line. ...lets just say its a good discount.
