Gents, I like this cigar, but for the life of me I can't get one to light as easily as I can get another cigar to light. I've been smoking for probably 8 or 9 years so I've got the lighting part down. When I light it, this particular cigar seemingly needs a lot more attention than any other that I've smoked. It needs more flame and time to get lit. Once lit, the wrapper seems to "buckle" and the fire just goes right under it and it constantly needs touching up. For the record, I've bought these cigars at many places and they've all done the same thing. Is this cigar just that finicky? I think I'm done with Black Labels. Thanks for your time guys! Simp

strange i dont remember that on any of the ones ive had. ill have to check my catalog and see if that was something i just forgot about.

brb.

Back (edit :D )

all i said about the burn was:
The burn is uneven at times.
The ash holds on tenaciously. At less than 2 inches left the ash has fallen only twice.

i did have it in my humi for 5 or 6 months though. Im not sure how long they were in your humi before you lit em up. If you are smoking them "Fresh" from the shop you may want to try giving em a rest.

sorry if it didnt help. thats all i got.

I can almost bet your humidity is too high. I keep the PBL and the 5 Vegas "A" at about 62%, and do not have any burn issues anymore. That thick, hearty wrapper can absorb too much moisture.

...i DO keep my humi at 62-65% Rh. I never even thought of that. Good call !!

It ranges from 65 to 68 %. Not sure if this is ideal or what. if not, what can I do to get it down to where it should be? Also, none of my other cigars have this problem and I kept it in it's plastic wrapper for a couple of days prior to lighting it. Don't know if this info is helpful but I thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks for the replies though! Simp

65 - 68 % Rh IS ideal for most cigars. you arent doing anything wrong at all.

the thing with the thick maduro on the partagas black is that the closer to 70% Rh the more uneven the burn will be. It has so many oils that the slight increase in RH will mess with it a bit.

I keep my humi at 65% ish. I just find the burn on most of my cigars is better that way.

I've had serious burning issues w/the black Classico but never w/the bravo. Needless to say, I only buy the bravos now.
