Uneven Burn

I have been noticing a problem with every cigar I smoke lately so I believe its something I'm doing and not the cigar itself. In the last 2 months or so, every cigar I light up and smoke burns unevenly. I never used to have this problem but its starting get very frustrating. I was wondering if anyone in this forum could shed some light on why this may be happening. Maybe have me light it a different way or turn it more etc... This is happening with cigars I get from friends, at the local cigar shop, and out of my humi.

Thanks, Nick

Are you toasting the foot first? I also find if the cigar is too wet or too dry the burn will be funky.

Rotate the cigars every once in a while in your humidor. I rotate mines about a quarter turn every week or 2. Also rotate the positions (top rows to mid row, bottom row to top, etc).

While smoking, rotate the cigar as it sits about 1/2 turn.

Yep I toast the foot first. I don't know if they were too wet but I would have definitely noticed if they were too dry. I'll make sure to pay more attention to that next time I smoke

I do rotate my cigars in my humi, but was doing it about once a month or so. Since this is happening with cigars from other sources as well I don't think that's my problem, but I will start to rotate them much more often.

could just be the outside air.

summer humidity makes this happen.

Living in San Diego, humidity is not usually a problem. It's very dry out here almost all the time.

You should probably send your stash to me to test smoke them for you before I comment.

I can help. That way there are 2 opinions to compare.

i think its the way you hold it, it happened to me with a churchill yesterday, i just rotate it and generally it'll fix itself after a few strong drags to burn off the excess bit.

I had a Trinidad that burnt so badly I just threw it away, so maybe its some of the cigars?
