a year ago i dont think i could answer this:

what is your favorite brand? and why.

for me... id have to go with gurkha

i have never had one i didnt like. yes they are expensive but i think its worth every penny. i have a gran master b(dos capas) waiting for the right time. i almost always have a few regents around. the centurian is one of my all time favorites. i could run through every cigar they have but that is kinda pointless.

i thought about 5 Vegas. im just not a big fan of the gold. its to mild. the classic is just ok. however the series A is amazing and so is the limitada. I havent made my mind up on the cask yet, and i havent smoked a Miami. i guess that though that brand has some really good stuff it also has some stuff that i guess i just dont care about. maybe its just me.

I don't have as much time served as a cigarsmith as some of you, but I would say, hands down, so far it's 5 Vegas. Of all the smokes I have tried, the 5 Vegas lines are always the "go back to" brand for me, with Rocky Patel second, and with Cusano a close third...that 18 Double Connecticut is just about the smoothest cigar I have ever had....

I do however continue to try other brands...and have some Gurkha Symphony on the way...

Cusano for me. Always consistent, high quality cigars at a great price. You know what you're getting in each one. The 1997 Corojo, Paired Maduro and the C10 standout as my favorites.

Hands down its tatuaje miami. From the Cojonu 2003 to the petite tatuaje they are all great. When I first started smoking a couple of years ago I loved powerful smokes with all the spice I could find, now my taste has changed a bit and have fell in love with this brand(still love powerful smokes :D )

My favorite brand is whatever I have in my hand, while the kids and wife stay at least 50 ft away to avoid the smell :D

Yeah, Craig - blame the cigar.

Mine come and go - right now I am big on Hoyo and Upmanns.

Mine would be any thing Padron, for everyday its hard to bet the X000 line and to celebrate a 64 or 26 anni.

Does Pepin himself count as a brand? If so, between both Tatuajes, Cabiguan, DBG Blue Label, San Cristobal, etc, etc, etc, he wins.

If not, I may have to opt for Fuente. Anejos, Opus X, AF Sungrown (especially the Cuban Belicoso), Hemingway Maduros (Cameroons are great too), and the 858s, I think Fuente wins.

But Padron is great too. Can't wait until the 80th Anniversary Perfectos come out, and the 1926 is one of best out there.

In summary....crap, I don't know.

What? No Legend? Beast?

Grand Master Dos Capas and Legend are my favorite Gurkhas.
Also like the Regent, Beast (but too expensive), Master Select, Centurian XX, Symphony, Titan...

My favorite economical smoke is the Cusano 18 Paired Maduro. Else it's the c.com Cub@n label.

Favorite premium smokes: Really, there's too many.

My favorite super premium smokes: Opus X Forbidden X 2004 series, Fuente Casa Fuente, and Graycliffs.

If I had to choose, I'd have to choose Gurkha also. There are so many great complexities with almost every Gurkha I light. The Expedition is the only one that I that I've smoked that didn't quite measure up (though I've got a few more that I'm aging to see if it will mature a little).

Second would be a tie between Ashton and CAO.

as strange as it sounds i havent had the beast. i know its like one of their "flagship" cigars... just the way the cards fell. the legend i have (that i think you sent me doc) is still resting in the humi. i think im gunna spark it on my birthday. i have a dos capas in my humi also. im gunna use that one to glote that i just got a promotion. (i shoulda had it already...)

i still like the centurian the best.

Right now my favorite sticks are:

Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion #4
Saint Luis Rey Serie A
RASS
Montecristo Petit Edmundo

I like them all, however Perdomos and Fuentes seem to constantly be added to the humidor.

And like Kuzi16 said - I never had a bad Gurka.

I'd like to say Gurkha but some of them are just way too overpriced IMHO. I've never had a bad one, but I have had some Legend and Centurian perfectos that burned far from even. At those prices I expect the burn to pretty much be perfect. That being said, 5Vegas makes a great cigar for the money, but I fully agree on your opinion of the Gold and Classic.

As Aubrey said, even though it's not a brand, I'd have to say anything by Pepin would count as my favorite. It seems to me this guy couldn't make a bad cigar if that's all he got paid to do. Some of my favorite cigars are by him, including my absolute current favorite the Padilla Miami (Lancero preferably) and the 5V Miami isn't far off. I say "current favorite" because this does change from time to time. I've never been less than fully satisfied with any cigar I've tried by him and my humidors are slowly thinning out of the RP's, Perdomo's, and CAO's and getting filled with Pepin made cigars. There's always room for Gurkha's though!

La Aurora, Gurkha, And for me there is just something about the Torano Reserva Selectas I just love.
