What was the warning? Don't do it again?

Asuming that you bought Cuban cigars, not the humidor that vince got it can result in a monetary fine

could result in a ONE MILLION DOLLAR FINE & time in Jail,
welll the mexican firecrackers are going to get set off as soon as it stops raining, but the Humidor I got from HongKong is doing just fine

How would they know what you bought? Unless they opened it and looked and if that was the case they would not have had send the letter? I was just trying to figure out how they could charge you with a assumption not based on a fact. Though it is the GOV.

And just in case they where going to come after you why would they send you a letter instead of coming to your house to do a search if they had cause to get the warrant? Sending you the letter seems like a waste as it lets you know there looking and would give you time to get rid of them if that is what you had ordered.

Just does not make any sense to me.

if they Opened the box in shipping, you would receive the box wrapped in green Customs tape. What they are basing it on is knowing what said vendor sells. Like in this case This Vendor may sell mostly Cuban cigars, but also sells humidors. Chances are that most people bought a Cuban cigar, not knowing if you bought the humidor they roll the dice and send you the letter.

I am not totally sure of the details but I believe that there were a couple places in HK that were targeted by OFAC. One was a Place that was owned by an American citizen, the other was a problem with either Visa or world pay not sure what one it was.

Thats my point there just ASSUMING you did something illegal. Without proof whats the point of the letter? Do they ask you in the letter to call them and confess your sins? Or is the letter simply a we got our eye on you type thing? If it was the latter why would they tell you there watching you?

There is a certain well known vendor out of Hong Kong that had their financial transactions subpeonoed (how the F do you spell that?) by US Customs. Yes, they can do that. Said vendor has started using another pay process and is supposedly safe now. I am not risking it. Quite a few people got very hefty fines for this.

Some how - they know!
Worlp pay seems to be a major link in all this.
There are different letters - one is just a warning letter - the other asks for more info.
Which one did you get????

Most people (with the second letter) have ended up paying fines.

Vince if you need more info please fell free to contact me!

So in other words, Big Brother is watching? Is every online purchase a gamble or do they just watch certian vendors?
