Folgers raised prices approx 18% in December and have announced another 10% this week as worlwide coffee bean prices continue to climb. Another fine reason to home roast as you can buy the green beans and they will store for two years without loss of flavor. So, stock up while you can while dealers are selling last seasons crop. They certainly have. In addition to the prices on Sumatran already going up as I mentioned in another post, my favorite coffee shop in NYC, Oren's, has already raised the prices of new Hawaiian Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain stocks to coincide with prices already put in effect by others such as Green Mountain months ago. If you want a pound of Hawaiian Kona it's going to be $32.99 and Jamaican Blue Mountain is now $44.99.

This is roasted coffee of course, not as KAZ mentioned green beans. Of course he will be paying more for his green beans, but smart guys like him who have joined the home roasting wave inevitably pay half as much for their coffee as guys like, . . .

well, guys like The Great Dumboni, yours truly, for example. :duh:
