Howdy all. My parents have been big fans of Gevalia coffee for years. It is a European (Swedish, if I remember correctly) company in origin, though all the current service adresses I have for them are in the USA. Personally, I am not their biggest fan (Gevalia, not my folks), as their coffee seems to be lacking in the oils I like for French-pressing and a lower acid coffee. Its flavor is quite good, if a bit acidic. But, I am no expert. So, what what I am interested in is y'all's thoughts on Gevalia's products.

Cost is way to high, but the" free " gifts are paid for with high prices , I have a local coffee shop who will sell me beans by the pound & I grind my own, I was going to start roasting my own, but never got the roaster , I do fire up a small pan & roast a few green beans when I need a coffee fix & am out of high test beans, after stove top roasting I give them a day to degass, & then grind them when you want a great cup of coffee you cant beat a Press pot , IMHO . Enjoy, Vince

I'm hooked on the free gifts you get but its very expensive. 2 pounds delivered will cost you around $38.00. Their Kona is very good. Most of their coffee is good, not too strong. If you don't care for french roast you'll like the Gevalia brand.

I have a house full of the free gifts, I get the orginal order & then stop , they give you some thing to come back, so I do & then I quit again, I have about 4 coffee pots, , carafe, canister to keep coffee in , a grinder , a thermos & travel mug, all I need is a better espresso machine , who know maybe it will come some time in the future ! Enjoy, Vince

Vince, I must admit to the same. I love the gifts and the first box of coffee. The second wears a little thin, and then I have to cancel. Part of it's the price, but mainly what gets me is the acidity of Gevalia's roasts. Their Stockholm used to be pretty good, but their others save the new "Cafe" roasts leave me a bit upset (stomach, I mean). But their equipment has all been pretty good, especially considering the price.

GTer, I do like some of the coffees, but like you said they get a little $$$$$$, I get my coffee from a coffee shop right across the street from the Cigar shop, I told the owner of the coffee shop we should merge our shops together, then I could smoke & drink coffee all day, she said I can smoke & drink coffee all day as long as I smoke on the other side of the street in my own shop ! haha Enjoy, Vince
