...or a "Coffee Survival" forum...

Simply, how long can unroasted beans be stored? Assuming I vaccuum pack, nitrogen flush, and heavy Mylar bag them, how long could I keep them fresh?

If kept in a cool dry environment (i.e. indoors) green coffee beans will last just this side of forever.

Absolutely, as if a second opinion was needed, since djl never says anything unless he's right, but . . .

he's right. They'll last until the 12th of Never.

And Donny Osmond said" And That's a Long Long Time".

     Sorry, couldn't resist!

That's who I was thinking of Fox. I was wondering if anyone would actually play in. All I can say is, thanks.

Don't know bouchall, but I kind of liked the Osmonds.

Anyone remember Down By The Lazy River?

There's irony in this discussion of coffee and Donny Osmond. Yes, I remember "Down by the Lazy River". Now I have to go listen to Badgers a few times to get rid of the earworm.

I can't believe it. I just did everything those emoticons do, including rolling on the floor. You just helped make a very bad day, in a horrible month, in a really, REALLY messed up year, a lot better.

By the way djl, let's do Little Bit Country, Little Bit Rock and Roll. I'll do Marie's part. A one, anna two, anna three, . . . :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :eek:mg: :eek:mg:

Bloof, since I AM a woman, I get to do Marie's part!!!!! Lets play fair now!

Or I will send you some "Paper Roses".

Nope, just holding the place until you got back. We'll do Little Bit Country with Lfox doing the Marie part, and then I'll step off and Lfox will do Paper Roses. Then we'll get the whole gang on stage for a rousing rendition of Down By The Lazy River, and end with One Bad Apple. Lfox can join in on the two ending numbers, for a bit of a twist on the originals. :D

And as for me, I'm getting ready for my morning coffee, a Freedom Press of good old basic . . .

Colombian Supremo. There's just something so rich, satisfying and flavorful about this coffee, that when in doubt what to buy, I just can't help coming back to it, time and again. Not to mention that it's one of the cheapest coffees on the market. :sm_angel:

Was it picked by Juan Valdez?

People think I am nuts, but I have a camp coffee pot, two camp cups, a sealed bag of filters, and a factory sealed pound of generic coffeee, packed inside a resealable baggie, for SHTF. I may need it to stay awake on a long night on guard duty, or as barter/trade.

Not crazy at all. I've been making such plans for years. Haven't gotten far down the path, but I've got a plan. Everybody should. Global tyranny and worldwide slavery is coming, and the S WILL HTF at some point. I don't really want to see it, but it's not right to wish it on anyone, like the next generation, but whenever it comes, those folks will have to deal, and hopefully a few will have their plans made and implemented.

Elsewhere in the coffee news, I just wanted Lfox and others to know that the firm once again told me I was not needed last night, so having plenty of work to do around here, I got to it. I put on the 70's channel on Music Choice from my cable package, and at 2147 hours, guess what played? Yup.

Down By The Lazy River by The Osmonds. 8)

What are you doing tonight
You got no place to go
Gotta get out of the city
Why don`t you come along with me

Mighty fine out tonight
Get your girl and hold her tight
We can take it nice and easy
You know it won`t be long
Til we`ll be, we`ll be

(CHORUS)
Down by the lazy river, come as you please
Down by the lazy river, one big family
If you`re all alone, you won`t be long
Just bring your guitar and sing your song
Down by the lazy river, everybody follow me

Better make up your mind
Get the show on the road
We`re gonna have a party
Come along or you`ll be sorry, sorry

You know there`s plenty of room
Come on, sing a boom boom boom
We can get nice and cozy
Why don`t you come along and mosey

And down, I said, down
Come on down, I`m going

(CHORUS)

If you`re all alone, you won`t be long
Just bring your guitar and sing your song
Down by the lazy river, down

I`m going down by the lazy river, down
I`m going down by the lazy river, down
I`m going down by the lazy river, down

As much as I love it, I must remember that Moderators indeed have those that look down upon their doings, and therefore, I must ask; we're not breaking any of those AmBack copyright infringement rules, are we? :dunno:

copyright infringement rules
The rules covering reproduction of the lyrics of a song are somewhat more elastic than other copyright rules. There are hundreds of sites with song lyrics and the recording industry has not uttered a peep about them.

BTW, I owe you an earworm :)

I thought so, that's why I didn't do anything immediately. Not sure what an earworm is, but then again, I AM The Great Dumboni. :sm_angel:

By the way, those sites with song lyrics. I've had to look up lyrics a bunch of times, and it's amazing how many of those sites have some lyrics just plain WRONG. I think some of those sites are composed of people who just listen to the songs, and then put down what they THINK the singer(s) said. No official sources? :duh:

Oh, and Brenda, if you're wondering about the direction of the thread, well then, you'll find us . . .

Down By The Lazy River. :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :sm_angel:

With cigars, and some good food and drink, of course.
