So I have read and understand that a good briar pipe needs to rest for 24-48 hours to dry out...does this mean that if you smoke more than one bowl a day, you need more than one pipe for that day? Is this drying time for 1 bowls worth...and finally, do meerschaum pipes need to rest?

Yeah you will need another pipe if your going to smoke daily.

So, if i was a 3 bowls a day kind of guy...i would need 21 pipes, right?

And do meerschaum pipes need to rest like that?

I can do 24 hours, but not 48. or I am gonna need about 4 more pipes. Hey, what a great excuse to go pipe shopping... oh, honey?!?..... :D

Not a pipe guy, but if I'm reading this right... You'd need only 6 pipes for a 48 hour resting period between sessions. 3 the first day, 3 on day 2. By day 3 you'd be able to start using day 1 pipes again.

Uh....yah.....that looks about right...Hatchetmath :roll:

let a pipe rest???
I thought that only happens during the time it takes to start a honeydo project and the time it takes to sneak back out to the shop and light up :D

I'm only an occasional pipe smoker but my pipe "mentor" told me that a meerschaum pipe does not need to rest.

They are a little bit more fragile than a briar pipe, but I've never broken particularly careful with mine and it doesn't have a scratch.
