It's that time of year, when this old man's fancy turns from bourbon and rye to . . .

BombaGina!!!

That's a shot (1.5 oz.) of Bombay Sapphire Gin with 4.5 oz. of Orangina added in a glass, then ice cubes and stirred.

I discovered this a couple years ago when I was using my sister's apartment in Brooklyn as an oasis in the city after my last ex-girlfriend broke up with me. :p Since my sister almost always has a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin in her freezer and Orangina is also practically a staple in her house, it was an easy figure on some of those 95-100 degree days. Goes down easy, and if the ice cubes have melted a bit, you don't even notice the gin until after you've had two doubles.

That's what I did before leaving the house tonight. I did two hours of serious yard work this evening and when I came in I was thirsty, so I had some juice drink but after that went straight for the BombaGina when I got out of the shower. The first double was gone in minutes, the second took a lot longer, but when I left the house my thirst was quenched, and . . .

I was ready for a long train ride, :D but maybe not a night in front of the computer. Oh well, it wore off in time. 8)

If you're looking to have a little potent libation on a hot summer's day, try a BombaGina, and . . .

try your own variations.

In the summer I throw together a drink of my own. I've used Bombay for this one too, but I usually use Pisco (a liquor I discovered in Peru).

I peel and halve a nice sized orange throw the two pieces in the blender with a couple of shots of Pisco. Fill the remaining space with ice and turn the blender setting way past Mix to "Disintergrate"!

Depending on the orange, a spoonful or two of sugar might be added.

Hmmmmmmmm, I think you two doggs are on to something.

 :uzi: :wine: :wine: :D :D :D
