just finished first tasting of a new bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed, 108.4 proof, currently No. 16 on my Top 25.

By the way, it may be mid-June, but it's a beautiful spring day up here, 71 degrees, wind from the North Northeast at 9, and it will be down in the 40's tonight in these here parts.

That means "the season" is still on.

Hey Bloof just curious...

What season follows Bourbon season? (I know I'm seting myself up here but what the hey)

Ahhhhhh, Special Ed U. Kayshuhn has not been paying attention. No matter, you'll still get Cajun/East Indian grilled Iams for dinner today. Anyhow, what follows bourbon/rye season for your humble correspondent is mixed drinks with gin/rum season. To that end I received a delivery of four bottles total, three different rums today, to get stocked up and take advantage of certain current bargains.

No offense, Bloofington, but when I see John Wayne or James Arness drinking chic drinks with rum, then I will. Till then, it's Bourbon, sour mash and ales for me.

Well yes Colonel, I can understand it. And as far as ales go, you can start me on the 8% alcohol and up stuff, Belgians, no more German for me, although I have some favorites there, British, Austrian (Samichlaus at 14%), some great domestic microbrews and we all know who they are (if not, speak up and we'll tell you), there's a great Sri Lankan one, some nice Caribbeans, Mexican and Central American beers too, and I could go on forever about the various stouts, porters, ales, barleywines and stuff that I like.

As for "chic" drinks, I don't know if Bombay Sapphire Gin and Orangina with ice, or rum with grapefruit and lime juice and ice qualify as "chic" but I can dig it, you like your booze straight up, and during the cold to not so hot months that's the way I like my bourbon and rye. But if it's not beer or ale during the summer, I'm not having my booze straight. Gotta have something refreshing in there to go with it.

Its Single Malt Scotch season ! hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

Down over 60 pounds, stopped or cut back on most meds, still sipping single malt & smoking cigars, listening to classic music, but tonight my wife & I are going to see Simon & Garfunkle live in concert, a stop at Ruth's Criss Steak house or Mortons, a 2 ounce filet for me & off to the show, hahahah, I am feeling better that I have felt in 20 years ! Enjoy, Vince
PS, It is Scotch season !

Vince, I'm elated about how you're feeling, you know that, but a TWO OUNCE FILET?!?!?!??!!!??

WHERE'S THE BEEF???

:D

From The Qtr.Deck

I order a petit fillet, 4 ounces, when it gets there I eat half & take the rest home !, down 65 as of today, still drinking coffee & smoking cigars, the SMS is just a couple of table spoons full now, but it is still scotch season in da'burgh ! Enjoy, Vince

:eek:mg:

A FOUR OUNCE FILET?!!?!????!!

Like I said, . . .

WHERE'S THE BEEF???

At any rate, your health is what's important, and if that's what it takes. Glad to hear you're still smoking cigars and drinking real coffee. I guess SMS means some kind of coffee, right? As for scotch season, I know what you mean. It's still bourbon and rye season by us, with two recent morning in the 40's. Yayyyyy!!! It would be nice to have a dry summer, with no days in the 90's.

Yeah, I'll keep dreaming, LOL!!!

Vince, when you're down about 165, post a picture. Heck, post a picture now.

SMS, Single Malt Scotch!, I wish I could post a photo, but I dont have a camera, that will work on the computer, I have your address(someplace in this mess on my desk) & I can sent a photo. I just finished a half pound of Monsoon Coffee from India, nice & smooth, low acid & a fair aroma, mixed well with the Glenlivette !
I am still haveing problems with the computer, the windows 2000 isnt all its cracked up to be , I am going to go back to the 98 & hope for the best ! Enjoy, Vince
PS, its SCOTCH SEASON !

I think I am going to trash this Pentium 3/550mgh, & go back to my 486 windows 95! never had a problem with it, now all I have are glitches & BS, I just hate to spend more $$$ on the computer, it takes away $$$$ for Cigars & scotch !
It is Single malt scotch season here in the burgh all the time ! Enjoy, Vince

I feel the same way as you about the computer field. It's a giant carrot and stick industry, incremental improvements and planned obsolescence in the grandest way. You're also right that it takes money away from one's whiskey and cigars budget. So do women for that matter.

By the way, speaking of single malt scotches, Vince and anyone else can get yourselves over to samswine.com, one of my four solid favorite booze web sites to purchase from. Sam's is having a weekend only sale, in-store and internet. The internet portion of the sale is 20% off certain wines and single malt scotches. I've looked at the list and it seems mighty impressive to me.

Thanks for the heads up on Sams, I havent ever bought any booze over the internet yet, maybe this will be a first, I am working on a bottle of Bowmore Darkest, Islay whisky after all its after 5pm some place in the world right now hahahaha ! ,
its single malt season !!!!
Enjoy, Vince

I went, I looked I passed , even on sale the price of a case was outta reach for what I wanted, better to save the cash for the cigars & drink what I have in stock ! coffee is becomming my drink of choice, BUT its still single malt season in the burgh ! Enjoy, Vince

Sipping Jefferson's Reserve 15 year old bourbon as we speak. Had Jim Beam Rye this afternoon with my Avo Maduro Churchill, after broiling some Omaha Steaks burgers. Actually, these were made by me from their chopped meat packages. They don't offer regular chopped meat much, but when they do, the price is lowwwww!!! The burgers actually come out better too. Something Emeril said about making your own burgers, because the pre-pressed ones are too tightly packed and don't breathe properly or something like that having to do with ultimate flavor.
