Pure Kentucky. . . .

I've told you previously about my first tasting or two of this suprisingly low priced but bold, flavorful, fine tasting bourbon at 107 proof, and coming from barrels aged a minimum of 12 years. The production is a mystery too, as it is listed as a Small Batch Bourbon, but it does not claim to belong to the heavily advertised, well known stable of bourbons, all fine ones in their own right. The "proprietor's" signature is also on the label, but of course it can't be read.

I'll put all mysteries and nuances of the distillation of certain whiskies aside, because we could talk about that until the cows come home. Come to think of it, we could talk about that until about 15 minutes after the cows come home.

:pigsfly:

Alas, binnys.com has taken it off their list, and since this was supposed to be a bourbon "on its way out" I guess that what I've got left may be all I ever taste.

Pure Kentucky starts out with a blast of spicy oak, blackberries and maple syrup early on, but as time passes with each ensuing sip I found less of a bold, blackberry taste, but rather that of plywood with maple syrup poured over it, and perhaps a touch of dried apricots. A very "rustic" tasting bourbon overall, and my "taste testing" has concluded, as now the true end of bourbon/rye season seems to surely be upon me. I've also had four or five tastings of this bourbon, and am well prepared for the thought processes ahead.

I am contemplating putting this one at somewhere between No. 8 and No. 12 on my Top 25. Look for a final determination for this low priced, obscure bourbon on this post within the coming week, after further contemplation.

Pure Kentucky. Get it, . . .

IF you can.

Ahaaaa!!! So we DO know each other from "another web site." As for Willie Nelson's Old Whiskey River, it's like asking me to discuss politics and hot-button social topics.

Don't ask, don't tell.

As for Pure Kentucky, take it from a No Spin kind of guy, quite seriously: . . .

small price tag, big on taste and satisfaction, . . .

IF you can find it. The door just closed to me.

You know me? Hmmm.
I'm on the the way to seek libations for the evening, I shall see if it's available. If not, I'll have to purchase another bottle of Fighting Cock 103.

Okay, maybe I'm wrong, but it's usually people from my three and a half years at "another web site" that know of my "strong" opinions on Old Whiskey River. I still love Willie though, even though he's working for "the other party" and I have the bottle of Old Whiskey River up on the shelf in the den in honor of him.

Sorry for the mistake. Maybe I've expressed some of those "strong" opinions about Old Whiskey River on this web site too.

:duh:

Don't give up the idea all together that we may have crossed each other's path. I'm just wondering if you've narrowed down the list.

Pure Kentucky was not available, he's going to try and order some for these old bones.
Out of stock on the Fighting Cock. So, I picked up Evan Williams Single Barrel, and some old stand-by, Rare Breed. Gotta decide which contriband will pair with my decision, and post in cigars.

Nice choices. Fighting Cock is in my future, Rare Breed still holding at No. 17 on the Bloofy 25. As far as narrowing it down, who else could you be? Only one of three, . . .

or perhaps four or five. But, . . .

I think that's it.

At any rate, in all sincerity, thanks for contributing at amback.com.

PM me with your norrowed list, this might be fun.
Decided on RyJ Beli, and Rare Breed.

No, I don't play guessing games, but whether in the past you were friend, foe or neither, I'm old and tired, and just trying to work for peace. And as you might know my old stock line, which is quite sincere, . . .

if Hitler and I were standing outside the gates of The Kingdom on Judgment Day and God popped his head out the door to say "there's only room for one left", I'd say "take him", so how much more so anyone else?

I'm sure time and circumstance will reveal all that is necessary.

In the meantime, that's a fhine, fhine, pttttttttemium cigahhhh you've chosen for tonight's respite, and a fine bouhbuhn as well.

Bourbon and stick, both exquisite. When my palatte calms down, I shall review them both.

ps: Bloofington, PM sent to you.
