About Blantons... It's my understanding that the whiskey (currently) bottled for the US market is less than 10 years of age, although Bloofington presented evidence that suggest it is 10+ years of age.

I suspect that the 10+ mark is attributed to foreign market bottles.

I have read that Blanton's is 7-8 yrs old. http://www.alcoholreviews.com/SPIRITS/blantons.shtml I don't know if they meant just the run o' the mill Blanton's or the whole family.

I'm a big fan of Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel. It is the same whiskey as Blanton's, just aged in different warehouses. E.T. Lee is a bit sweeter than Blanton's, IMHO. At the (now) Buffalo Trace distillery all Blanton's comes from warehouse 'H', which was supposedly Col. Albert Blanton's favorite. Elmer T. Lee SB comes from warehouses 'I' and 'K', Mr. Lee's favorites.

"NOTE: NOT MY COLLECTION / PHOTO!" - You notice how the guilty can't help but pointing fingers elsewhere before any are even pointed AT them? :cryinlaugh: :pumpkin:

Tennesseelonewolf sounds like a guy I need to get to know, just like my Whiskey Sensei, Hollow Point.

I think Tennesseelonewolf is just TOO close to the source for me to pass up making CLOSE acquaintances. He also knows TOO much!!! :sm_angel:

My take is all the Blantons does in fact come from the Iron Clad warehouse. Keep in mind Blantons is selected by Mr. Lee just like Elmer T. Lee (named after Mr. Lee) is...

With the Elmer T. Lee, just going on what I've put together in my little empty head, it could in fact be the same run of whiskey that would be Blanton's - that I can neither confirm or deny, but it seems to me it is NOT pulled per-say from ONE particular warehouse or specific floors etc...

More like Elmer has free rein to comb warehouses looking for whiskey (of course of the right recipe / formula) that meets the correct profile. It has been intimated that the whiskey selected recently was upwards of 14 years old. For the price if you get the right barrel selection, ETL is very TOUGH to beat!
