I always had a hard time "getting" this bourbon. As a matter of fact, before I bought my Riedel bourbon glass set, I was ready to throw this bourbon to the ash heap, or should that be into the fuel tank of the nearest Union Pacific SD90 locomotive?

But Corner Creek Reserve bourbon is not diesel fuel. And at long last, with this being my second or third bottle, the first coming about two years ago, and with my palate being that much more refined and experienced, I'm ready to make a final assessment, for myself and whoever else cares.

And it is that there is no flavor that is really bold in this bourbon, which if there was it would more likely have garnered a much higher position on my list. But it is indeed unique and attractive, as far as bourbons go. Subtle, sweet, with an underlying complexity. Perhaps the only bourbon that I can yet say that I truly taste vanilla in. You will frequently see reviews of bourbons that talk about the wonderful vanilla flavor in certain kinds, but I have yet to really know I've tasted it, except of course for this very nice and very inexpensive eight year old, 88 proof bourbon.

Sweet oak with a touch of spice, white chocolate, then pure vanilla later on, also pear juice and a bit of wildflower honey.
