The Radio advertisement for 'Fat Bastard' has been going around my AO for a while now... and its sorta got me thinking about trying it.

Anyone have info on it? how can it be described; similarly to.

Casual

Not sure if I've had it or not, but I believe it's one of those high alcohol ale type of drinks. Sounds good to me, because I've heard good things about it. And it's just possible I've had one. If it's what I remember, it was very nice. I'm having a pre-Super Bowl bottle of Dead Guy Ale right now, an old favorite from Rogue Brewing, while I do some rearranging of the Olde Homestead. :cheerschug:

Do you mean Arrogant Bastard Ale made by Stone Brewing in San Diego?

The only Fat Bastard beer (a Scotch Ale) I can find is brewed by Silver City in Washington and I don't think they distribute.

Arrogant Bastard is good but I think their best brew is Ruination IPA with their Imperial Russian Stout a close second. If you don't like hops, you won't like any of their brews...especially Ruination. I have a bomber of Double Bastard (10% abv) from '03 that I've been aging. I think another year or so and it'll be perfect.

Sorry, only fat bastard I know is from Austin Powers.
"Get in my Belly"

Arrogant Bastard!!! That's the one I had! I love beers starting at 8% alcohol and up. Of course the Rogue Dead Guy Ale only measures in somewhere between a paltry 5 and 6 percent, but you'll really get my attention when they start to hit 8%.

By the way vf1000ride, where did you get the picture of Jay Leno shooting a machine gun?

It's funny because i never thought it looked like Leno till you mentioned it. It is actually a clip of Al Pacino from the Scarface movie.

Ohhhhhh, okay. Well, I saw Scarface, but from that angle and with the picture that size, it looks like Leno.

Are you thinking of Fat Bastard Shiraz??? Another of the fine red grape art creations? This is one of my favs - Thierry and Guy's now infamous Fat Bastard Shiraz. True, the name alone conveys one to partake, as we all love a fat bastard in our midst now and again, do we not?

And now you can even find Fat Bastard clothing...... "Pardon me, but there's a hippo in you skivvies.......
"Why yes, thank you for noticing!"

You may want to keep this fun secret to yourself, as you sport the new Fat Bastard boxer shorts. Made from 100% cotton, in a vibrant red with a sewn in fly, this essential article will keep you (and your 'secret Santres) smiling throughout the day or night. But I digress.

This fine red grape art is a creation of Thierry Boudinaud and Guy Anderson, not your ˜run of the mill" winemakers. After returning to France in 1998 Thierry (like 38 years old) was working with his friend Guy Anderson attempting to craft a unique full-bodied Shiraz from southern France, no doubt to try and counter the new Australian Shiraz craze. After tasting a barrel that was left 'on lees' they knew they had something special. Thierry, upon tasting the wine, proclaimed that it was a 'fat bastard', and a legend was born.

Both friends had no idea that leaving the wine in barrel on the lees (yeast cells) would result is such a dramatic difference from the wine they tried the day before. It has a wonderful color and rich, round palate. Both men stood and stared at each other for what seemed like five minutes until Thierry exclaimed "now zat iz vhat you call eh phet bast-ard" Guy laughed with a belly laugh you could clearly hear in the neighboring town. He had used the expression Fat bastard often to describe things that were great but hearing it in a French accent made it so much funnier.

This is a really excellent $12 bottle of redness.
