Van Winkle located... Attention Bloof

Hey Bloof, Remember when we were discussing how the 20 yr van winkle was out of stock everywhere? I found a store that keeps it in stock @ $109 +tax. They also have plenty of the 13 yr van winkle rye along with many other high end liquor.

I was rather surprised by this find in a small town store being that all of the stores in my town act like the 20yr bourbon is rare as hell and hard to get. Then they mark up the price like it's the last shipment of OpusX for the year!

I asked the owner about it, it seems that they have several bourbon/rye lovers that buy at this store, several were complaining that the store kept running out of the 13yr rye and the 20yr bourbon. It seems that this owner knows some people, he ended up talking to a member of the family at the distillery and now has regular shipments. I took the story with a grain of salt until I was at the counter talking to the young college girl ringing up my sale. I mentioned how I was surprised they had this bottle in stock. She looked up and asked matter of factly "do you want some more?" I said no, that I was just surprised as it is sometimes difficult to fine. She looked at me like I was nuts and replied that all she has to do is make a phone call when ever they need more.

I have found my new liquor store. :D

I'm really glad to hear that. There is quite a song and dance that goes on concerning certain spirits, and your Opus X analogy could not have been better placed. One thing though. I guess you've already bought your bottle of Pappy's 20, but one of my favorite web sites just got it back in stock and it is a wee bit cheaper than what you paid. Let me know if you want me to look it up for you.

Thanks for the tip.

Hey America, Bill O'Reilly AND Gecko are lookin' out for you. :D

Gecko

If you ask me, it sounds like you missed your cue or curfew...

When she said you want some more... Ohh nevermind this isn't that forum. She surely must of been talking about the whiskey LOL.

This years release of the VW20 I find superb. The VW13 Rye is definitely a go getter. Just curious this shop, it isn't on the edge of no-where in Maryland is it? Sounds like a familiar jewel I accidentally stumbled up on twice upon a time that was.

Nope, this shop is on the edge of no where Indiana. I drive by it (with a very minor detour) on my way to and from work. Funny thing is, this store often has bottles that I have trouble finding when I drive through parts of Kentucky!

As for the clerk, damb cute and very friendly; and while I do have a king size bed, I don't know if my wife would be willing to share....

Uhhhhh, ya nevah know Gecko. Wives is gettin' pretty liberated these days. Ever hear of The Church Of The Tattoo Over The Crack and Heavily Pierced? I hear they like that girls gone wild stuff. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!

:eek:mg:
