Howdy all,

I may have been off, but I have still been drinking. My current favorite is now ABERLOUR A'BUNADH SNGLE MLT SCOTCH which is a cask strength 120 proof. It is very smooth and has a tasty flavor. At $46-58 it is a fair price and I highly recommend it.

I had a friend who was going to Ireland so I asked if she could stop by the Jameson distillery and pick up a bottle. This is the Jameson bottle that you can only get there. Very tasty, But I still think my favorite Irsh whiskey is Red Breast. I will have to buy a bottle again soon.

Another scotch that is nice and is a scotch I drink if I don't feel like anthing else is Glen Garioch It is $25. It is very smooth.

Well I have to run.

Martin

It certainly has been a while. Welcome back, and keep us posted. Some birthdays are coming up and I need suggestions in the $75-100 range.

Are you stuck on the $75-100 range? A Mcallen cask strength 12yr is $55.

What type of scotch do they like? Highland, lowland, etc. peaty, smooth, bandaid flavor?

I can ask some of my friends that a $50 bottle is cheap to.

Well, for gifts for these particular people, I'd like to go for something rather rare, and in the $75-100 range. I got a Glenrothes 1974, 29 year old last year for this one friend. It cost me a smidgin over $100 with the tax, and he loves it, just LOVES it. Stuff along those lines will do, but if something is really that special, and costs less, I'll consider it.

By the way, I actually don't know what they like, and I don't know a ding dang thing about single malt scotch except that when he gave me a taste of that Glenrothes '74, it was amazing. For a bourbon/rye drinker like me, it was quite an interesting and tasty change of pace.

Well, one of my favorites is Glenmorangie 18yr. Runs about $86 here in PA. I have yet to try any of the Islay scotches though - if someone has a recommendation on those, I'm listening.

I must agree with you - an Irish pub opened up here with approx 15 different Irish whiskeys and about the same number of scotches. I've sampled most and keep coming back to Red Breast!

Oooh Glenmorangie 18yr, That is a great scotch. Your making me drool. Actual I have yet to have a bad Glenmorangie. I don't know if you have tried it or not, but the Glenmorangie Maderia wood also rocks. I don't know about your area, but in mine you can find the Port wood all over, but have to go to select liquer stores for the Maderia wood.
