First Cider Attempt

This is my first attempt at fermenting cider. Thought the colors looked appropriate for this season. Used fresh cider from Uncle John's just south of Mt. Pleasant, MI. Two lbs of sugar, 1/2 lb of honey, and champagne yeast. Very simple, so we'll see how it works in several months.

Very interesting. Keep us posted.

I still have a home made beer kit from Christmas last year the I have not opened yet. I think it might be time to dust it off.

I loved making Cider, Actually I made Cyser witch has more of the spices in it. I used like 5 pounds of honey, with cinnimon and such. I actually had to kill the yeast, and add some honey back into it because it was so dry, losts of alcohol but to dry. When it was finnised it was great stff.

We have fermented cider many times. Sometimes we add other fruit, sometimes spices. It tends to be dry and high in alcohol. One thing that went over very well was adding stabilizer, honey, and pouring it into the stainless steel kegs I use for beer making. We gassed it up to carbonate it, put the kegs in ice, and people loved it.
