Master Distiller Jimmy Bedford from Jack Daniel Distillery is in MA this week. Gonna find out why 90°, then 86°, now 80°. I shall report my findings.

Hold on, I have something in my eye.

South Shore today, New Bedford/Fairhaven area tomorrow.

I will stop in and bow to greatness in Fairhaven on Friday, then a trip a couple miles down the road to have a cigar with Snipersnest.

Any interest, PM me, I can tell you the times and places.

Damn thing in my eye is back.

Looking forward to hearing from Our Man At The Big Dig.

By the way, that thing in your eye. What did she look like? Any pictures?

Colonel, what did you find out concerning the 90-80 proof shift? That really burned my @$$ when they did that and I never did find out why. Thanks for any information you can provide.

It's really weird. On the one hand, many distilleries have gone from 90 to 86, and even down to 80 on certain products, meanwhile, some of the same distilleries and others in the industry are rushing to put out never before heard of levels of alcohol with "barrel proof" offerings. :dunno: :duh:

It isn't that weird. The climb up in proof is due to consumer demand. The fall down the ladder is due to greed (imho).

A bottle of water costs how much? Slap a Jack Daniels label on it and ... well you get the picture!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Sensei, you are a man of few words, yet whose wisdom is seventy times seven that of his words.

I, on the other hand, am a man of too many words, and The Great Dumboni to boot.
