  • Does anyone know of an on-line source for the Weller 19 year old whiskey? The Woodford Reserve is just too "hot" in comparison. If I can't find the Weller 19, I'll settle for the 12 year old which I can get locally.

Ahhhhh, the Weller 19. Alas Sam, if you can find it, there might be some merchant in a corner of the country who has a third cousin who works for some trucker that found a dusty old bottle in the corner of the truck, and the trucker doesn't drink bourbon, and if you treat him REAL nice, he might let you have it for the ungodly sum of $100. There's also a gal in Brooklyn, Lenell, whose place I visited on September 2, 2005, and reviewed here shortly after. The guy I met said he could get me a bottle for about $100. Add in NY State sales tax, and that comes out to $108.38.

Sorry, no can do. The most I ever paid for a bottle with the shipping was $55. A friend in Texas whom I've never met, and some of us know, or know of, found a couple bottles in a place 15 miles from him in Texas and sent them to me a few years ago. Other than that, you really won't be able to find it. Discontinued product, and anyone who knows how good it is, and what it's worth, ain't gonna let you have none!!!

  • Thanks, Bloof. I've got my local dealer looking for a case for me. We'll see what we see. I'll go with the Weller 12 worse comes to worse. The Haverford Reserve is too "hot" for me. Booker and XR are okay, but at $150/bottle for the XR, I stay with the "cheap" stuff.

The Weller 12 would be a poor substitute, although it is good stuff. I'd try the Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 year old, Lot B. It's the next best thing in that line to the Weller 19, and still No. 12 on my list.
