Whisky Expo 2005 in SF?

I'll bet Hollow Point can shed some light on this. If anyone would know about an event like this, it's him. He's probably away right now, but I'm sure he'll be back soon.

A cab is a better idea anyway. The SF Hilton is right on the edge of the Tenderloin, parking is expensive. (The Hilton may have valet parking) BART is at Powell and Market about two blocks away.

To think that I actually walked through through the Tenderloin several times back in '85.

BART is best as described. You exit on Powell and proceed up Powell through Union Square - or at least that is what I do every year. Last year was the first that was at the Hilton (they had a small area downstairs to enjoy a smoke / cigar which was a plus -lets see if that holds up.

As for the money... If you can drink it's well worth it. Especially if you like single malts. There generally are a few items that if available would run you $25+ a shot at a bar. Be extrememly friendly or in the business so to speak and you'd also be amazed at what specialties are not out in the open on tables for the common sheeple'.

My advice is arrive early - especially if you are into the seminars which are very interesting. I generally miss them due to allergies which have grown worse with age. Something about long lines and being forced to wait just break me out...

Second advice, they provide food and water (standard catered stuff / bottled water)... Take breaks and take on both water and food. It helps... If you can hang you should be looking at the equivalent of 35+ drinks. Try that at an upscale bar (around here) and the tip alone is probably going to run you the $95- entrance fee. :!:
