Here's a question for you. I have been studying about how cigars are made in efforts to be able to look at a cigar and tell if it was machine or hand made. Most of the information I have found has been consistent with the rule of thumb; if it was flagged - it was handmade and if it was capped - it was machine made. Then I came across a definition of "hand-rolled" (which is mostly machine made but wrapped by hand).

I have some cigars that are supposed to be handmade, but they were not flagged - they were capped. My questions are: am I wrong about all of this? Can a handmade cigar be capped (maybe it wasn't a master but a lesser skilled wrapper)? Is there a way to tell if it was handmade, machine made or hand rolled?
