how can there be a restriction on a joke containing tobaco in a CIGAR forum? lol

I have to read this another 15-20 times. I lost him after "There are a few things."

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Blond(e) has left the building.

Jhiggs ---

I did not author these rules, they are simply copied from the main Amback Forum's "Generalissimo Fernando's Cantina and Grill" area. The reason for the tobacco limitation would be the fact that it is illegal for an underage person to purchase or possess tobacco products. Heck, here in WV the penalty is stiffer for selling underage tobacco then it is for underage sales of alcohol!!!!!!

I think alot of people forget that the bottom age limitation for registration on our forums is 13 years of age! That is the main reason for the rules and limitations.

no worries mike, im just giving you shit. 8)

Ahem.

It is illegal to "give a forum staff member s___," as clearly defined in Article 13, Chapter 57, Paragraph 6 and 7 (i)-(xiii) of Web Site Staff Rules, taken from The Internet Book Of Operating Rules by Senator Al Gore, Jr., the Inventor Of The Internet. Jhiggs is clearly in violation of this statute.

Therefore, . . .

BAILIFF, . . .

WHACK HIS PEEPEE!!!

i will agree to your terms only if the bailif is a really hot chick.

The bailiff will be none other than our own Vince, the ex-Navy cook, ex-postal worker, famous author of The Sunday Morning Smoke thread. Vince will be doing the whacking with some of his famous old cooking tools, taken off the ship from his Navy days.

Rolling pin, anyone? :cryinlaugh:

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

You all are cracking me up today!!

I have as big a sense of humor as anyone else, but I split this off and locked down the announcement thread because banter like this takes away from the seriousness of the main posting in the thread.

Should you want to continue the banter, be my guest.

I didn't see these rules in the forum policies.

Perhaps if we are to be censored by rules they should be in the policies and not in some other forum that we may not ever get to.

There are differences between "forum policies" and "rules" for specific forum topics/areas. If you go to the main forums I can easily point out numerous areas with different rules. Go to Buy/Sell/Trade and there is a rules announcement, same with Religious Issues, The Gun Zone, Class III and the Cantina.

I discussed this in another thread, the problems will be taken care of when we get the new software up and running Cigar.com forums will have sub-forums including an area for jokes/humorous threads. Until then, we have to tough it out and deal with what we have in place.

I don't go to the main forums.

I go to cigar.com and come to this forum.

Having been in law enforcement and having held a FFL for many years' I have my own opinions about firearms and accessories and activities utilizing them. I could care less about anyone's religious beliefs and opinions as well as their political views. Everyone is different and I seldom ask about such beliefs and views.

This has been a very social, civil forum. Many good people with good information, good pics, good jokes. I haven't seen any posts where someone has complained about content in a post. Granted, I don't read them all and haven't been a member of the forum since it started. I have seen very few times the moderators listed for this forum have stepped in or have had to. IMHO. But if you feel the need to be the "no fun police", rock on. Doing a darn good job.

dbrad--

Part of the problem is that while YOU do not choose to go to any other forum, any member on the main board that clicks on the "view posts since last visit" button sees EVERY post including ones within the Cigar.com forums.

You would be surprised the amount of moderation that takes place within the cigar area. Most of our staff does not publically discuss when action is taken, but I know I regularly send PM's and have to deal with stuff here and across the board. Even though I am not a smoker, I try to help Bloofington, Cigarsmoka and Alex keep an eye on things here. We as a staff pride ourselves on how we keep the boards running and trying to maintain a civil and clean place to come and hang out online. We do not make the policies/rules, we only enforce them. (sort of how it was when you were a MOS.

For what it’s worth, no one is being told that you can’t post jokes and no one is being told which kinds of jokes can be posted. All that is being asked is when you do post a joke, that you use a rating in the subject of the post. I don’t equate this with censorship. We are not restricting content, unless it goes against forum policy.

The moderators and admins work very hard in keeping this forum going smoothly while still being a fun place to hang out at. The forum members are also a great bunch of people. We should all be proud of this spot on the Internet that brings enjoyment to our day.

Now off to the humidor. It's time for a Cohiba!

seriously folks, a forum without strong moderators and boundries can really suck, trust me. nothing but kids running around posting porno and having swearing contests, its not cool.

As Bartles & Jaymes used to say in their commercial "Thank you for your support"! All of the staff here is VOLUNTEER. I am a member of quite a few other forums and I find I have quit going to the others just because of the flaming, trolling and lack of decorum.

Most of the other forums out there are pretty childish...some of the attitude and ignorance of the members is rediculous...

I post on a couple different boards....but they are the very few good ones...

I had a moderator call me an unethical piece os S#*T, tell me what a bad person I am, etc...
Those are some fun places let me tell you....There are a couple forums out there that want my guts and I have no idea why?

But, thank god for places like this!! I can definitely call this Home!

RE

I am actually the reason for all this uproar in the first place.i placed a joke in the forum about colostomy comments without realizing that there were children that frequent this forum. I should have enquired from the moderators on how to go about it. I did not, and it was explained to me in a very kind way how it should have been done.
The man was right in educating me and correcting my mistake. If only the moderators in other forums were this envolved, they would be run more effficently and last a lot longer.

Deacon,

Thank you! Most of our staff has been around online forums for quite a while (over 15 years for me) and I know I try to treat people as I wish to be treated. Don't get me wrong, I have been know to absolutely BI**H Slap a person who either commits a serious infraction or repeatedly commits the same error after getting multiple moderation PM's, but that is not a frequent occurance.

Our staff protocol is to inform a member whenever a posting has been moved or edited so that the member knows what happened and why. Smoka can attest, if we are not in our specific area, we send the area moderator a heads up note so they are aware of what was done in their area.

Overkill/un-necessary??? Possibly, but I think these are the little things that makes our forums so special!
