Fridgador question

Yea thats it. I also have an oassis and beads in mine. I started with just the oassis that did not work, it got over humidified than the beads i just did not like (manly because I was trying to keep it to cold) now I use both and I am quite happy. My cigars a re smoking great, You will really like this

That's the same one I have. I have the same set-up as Barcochris. I'm happy with it.

Hey, Thanks for the feedback on that.

I appreciate it. :D

Glad I have a little room on the AMEX.....

Do you need to do any modification to the cooler other than adding the humidifying elements and thermostat? Just curious.

No thats really it. You can do other things but this is all that you have to do

You already know that you will fill and run out of room so what i suggest is to bypass the fridgador and just turn one of your bedrooms into a walk-in humidor. Jump in with both feet and hands tied behind your back, you know the ultimate plunge.

That's my .02 cents

Everyone is welcome!

I have an even better idea for a humi, I'll just have do get used to sleeping outside!

"yeah, that's my walk-in humidor. Yes It DOES look like a house, how kind of you to notice! Let me show you around out here, the bed is next to that rosebush on the right, the restroom is behind the shed there, and if you need a beverage, I have a cold frame dug into the ground over there next to the hostas....."

My wife ought to just LOVE that....

Just adding on here but that is mine as well.

All you really need to do is get a thermostat and a humidifcation system. I use the Oasis XL by itself. I was going to put beads in too, but they wouldn't fit. The Oasis does fine by itself anyway, though if I were to buy a new one, I'd get the XL Plus.

As to your source, IIRC they wanted an exorbitant shipping fee. I got mine from here, and it looks like they have a rebate available now:

For a thermostat, I have the one at the top:
http://northernbrewer.com/temp-control.html

If I bought a new one:
http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-bee ... d-E54.html

It has a flexible thermocouple lead that would have made it a lot easir to route inside, plus it has a tighter temperature control range that would help keep the RH swings even better under control.

I was just curious Quag...

On your humidor, what's the base with the motion detector for? Does it activate the blue lights or something when someone walks by?

Yeah, I didn't want the lights on all the time, so I installed that. It only comes on for about a minute. The other switch only bypasses the motion sensor. If I flip that one it closes the circuit and the motion sensor won't trip.

That's a pretty sweet setup. It would be pretty funny if you could rig it up so that the disco version of Star Wars started playing too.
