How do I know if there are leaks in my humidor?

First thing's first - use a hygrometer to see if the humidity is decreasing. If you don't have a hygrometer you can always do the dollar test to see if the humidor has a good seal. Basically, close the humidor onto a dollar bill and pull it. If you can pull the humidor without the dollar coming out, then it has a good seal. Last resort is to just check your cigars every few days to see if they got any dryer, but I really don't recommend that.

A quick and easy way to up your chances of having a well hydrated humidor is to just throw in some Boveda packs. Those babies are self sustaining and work really well. They harden when they're dried out, so you'll know when it's time to get more or rehydrate. I wrote a piece about how to use them here: http://www.humidorhandbook.com/how-to-season-a-humidor-and-use-a-boveda-pack/.
