Torch lighters do a great job on cigars when they work. At home, I use a torch that the cannister is about the size of a beer can. The push buton igniter screws on to the top of the cannister. This device was intended for plumbers who solder in tight places or thaw frozen pipes. I have used it for both. The cannister holds about 40 hours of fuel. This only costs about twenty dollars with two fuel cannisters. Great for toasting a cigar.
Cooking torches also work very well and are a little more attractive.

i will have to take a trip to home depot. i have used a flame thrower at my garage but its slightly impractical. they regular torch lighters intended for cigars just dont last.
