Okay guys, I am not usually a big fan of "flavored" or "seasonal" beers. Nonetheless, I tried this at the grocery (yeah, I get hooked up) and thought it was wonderful.

Southern Tier Brewing Company is located in Lakewood NY. I have enjoyed their IPAs for some time. They are an alpha explosion. Very balanced too. This Pumking Ale was a surprise.

Imagine a brew with an aroma of pumpkin pie. Yes, I said pumpkin pie. It smells like it. On first taste, you'll notice a malty sweetness - not too much - and another mouthful of pumpkin pie. No pop of piney hops, just smoothness. You'll find a slight, nice warmth too from the alcohol.

It is made with 2-row pale malt, pureed pumpkin and magnum and sterling hops. I'd guess there is a good shot of pumpkin pie spice as well. With a 9% ABV and a beautiful golden color, this is a great brew for this season.

It comes in a 22 oz. bottle, so be ready to share . . . or not.
