Purple Coffee

8) I thought might catch everyones attention.But honestly as a wedding present last year a fellow employee sent my wife and I two pounds of "Community"brand "New Orleans"roast coffee which is made with chicory.When made at full strength thru a drip coffee maker it has a purple tint to it.This coffee is available on line thru comunity coffee website.My Dad used to drink"Beechnut"brand chicory coffee when I was a boy.My mother would make him brew it in the garage as she could not stand the smell of it.Ah,such fond memories!

When my mother left my father in late '62 with me in tow, we ended up in Gulfport, Mississississississippippippippippi until April '64. It was down there that my mother, an avowed coffee drinker, discovered that dow souf they lahk dere coffee with chicory. She's always talked about how much she liked the flavor.

They sell several brands made with chicory in local stores around here. My take was that it's a little too bitter for my palate.
