Ordered a sample pack from Cornell and Deihl. Smoked Exhausted Rooster (!) yesterday at work, not too fond of it, little flavor for me. Tried 414 last night, not bad, will try 838 this evening with barbeque. Also got a packet of one of my faves, 972. 8) Lot of money for me, but worth it to get something better than this drugstore junk.

I know what you mean about the drugstore junk. Even the name brands like Captain Black tend to be stale. I did finally get to a local "Books & Tobacco" recently, their kind of in between a drugstore and a full fledged smoke shop.
I tried three different blends and really lucked out on a black cherry. Cool burning and smooth. I'm finally getting the hang of this again and just knowing how to fill a bowl and the proper way to smoke it makes all the difference in the world, regardless of the tobacco in it.

The Borkum Riff that is STILL on Safeway's is so stale it crackles, but they won't send it back.
The 838 wasn't bad. Time for my old standby 972 with the evening smoke. 8)
