How many of you toast the foot of a cigar before lighting it ? I do most of the time on good cigars, but I'm not sure it improves anything.

Any time you smoke a cigar, take some time to warm it up and get happy before you start. That process will lessen the chances of scorching it before it is properly lit. Cigars are a hand made product, someone went to a lot of work for you to smoke them, so show them and their creators some respect as you enjoy them.

I agree, Gordon.

I always toast the foot before lighting. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, I just do it. I also know that I fill up lighters with butane often.

Yup, toast the foot and then blow out to make sure the fluid taste doesn't come back into the cigar. Does it make a difference? Not sure, but can't hurt.

I always toast the foot, I don't know if it actually helps but that is the way I was taught so its just automatic now.
