ok, i contemplated asking this question for a while for the sake of sounded like the #1 cigar newbie , but i figure how else am i going to find out? As a new cigar smoker i find myself looking at a lot of tip websites and such, after all of that, i relized that i can cut and light my cigar like a champ, but im not sure im smoking like one. I want to hang out at my local cigar store, but i dont want the regulars to look at me like some punk kid trying to look cool. Sometimes while smoking i find myself drawing from the cigar too hard to get a good amount of smoke in my mouth. when wathcing others i dont see them struggling that much, and they seem to get better amounts of smoke. im sure this has been a question previously asked but if someone could just drop a few tips on actually smoking the cigar and basically teach me, i would be ecstatic, thank you all very much

I'll something to the other end of smoking a cigar -
Putting the cigar out!

It is not proper to crush a cigar in the ashtray.
It is best to just lay it down and let it go out.
You can burry the tip in a pile of ash, but do not stub it out.
It will creat more smoke, just place it in the ashtray and light another.

Pheonix,

Some cigars just put out more smoke than others, proper humidification is a key in how well the cigar smokes as well. Personnally I keep my cigars in the 63-65% range, 70% seems to be too moist for the cigars I like to smoke.

Consider when smoking a cigar instead of long hard draws on the cigar, taking short, consecutive puffs to get the cigar burning, then take a draw. Practice this a little bit and see if you don't get what I'm saying. My 2 cents.

I will also blow air through & the smoke out of the cigar.
It has 2 effects -
First it clears any smoke from in the cigars.
It will help the cigar burn more and give you more smoke on the draw.

thank you very much so far, but when i went to the link someone said you just press your lips all around and that should be enough, but when i try that i am still not getting a good amount of smoke, it seems like i expel too much energy smoking, its prob something i just have to work on

dont expect smoke to come billowing out of your mouth like whipped cream or anything, some cigars just dont give off that much smoke. how are you cutting your cigars?
