Cigarsmoka & Macallan:
Get ready there is bad news.
I had the opportunity today to smoke the final two Diploma Maduros and one Padron 2000. My comparison is over and here is my best opinion.Due to the Diploma I had to change a few catagories to create a fair evaluation.
Appearance- a tie at 8 points, I don't need a perfect look.
Pre-smoke- Padron 10, Diploma 9.
Burn/Draw- Padron 9- Diploma 10.
Value- Padron 10- Diploma 5. Based on money paid.
Age - 10 each, these are ready to smoke.
Taste- a tie at 9 points.
Complexity-
This was the key to the winner.
I love Padron because they are very consistent- end to end.No suprises- a very reliable smoke.
The Diploma- one needs to pay attention to this smoke. I recommend that you don't rush this cigar. It smokes you.
The final Diploma- which was no different than the first two- I was ready. It gave me a gentle ride of change. Every puff offered me a change if I managed it- and I did. I've only experienced this pleasure with the best of the best Cubans. Others have stated that " This cigar is not for amateurs" NOT TRUE. If you like good cigars- BUY THIS ONE.
Therefore, Complexity - Diploma 10- Padron 4.
Results:
WINNER: DIPLOMA 8.71 PADRON 8.57
BAD NEWS IS THAT I LOST.
Comments:
I had a lot of fun with this and I owe Cigarsmoka & Macallan my very best thanks for exposing me to a great cigar. I'll be a little more careful in the future with my challenges, but will challenge the EXPERTS. I believe very strongly in my rating and feel that I have an obligation to do it right. I did not try to prethink the results. I didn't know the winner until I added up the numbers. When I added up the numbers the review was over.I would have liked the Padron to win but there is honor in a fair competion.
Thanks everyone.
PS Cigarsmoka & Macallan- you both know how to reach me via email. Please do not use the PM.At times I can't open these. When I receive your mailing address- I will promptly mail you the French Saturne to complete the deal.

Malone,

That was pretty close. Therefore Smoka and I decided that we consider this a tie. By all means send the wine and we will both send the cigars. More of a trade if anything in the spirit of a close match. Thor said he would email you tomorrow. Glad you enjoyed the cigars.

I'm of the opinion that both of you ( scallywaggs) discussed this in advance of my review.
I set the rules and I was the Judge. Both of you had the opportunity to challenge my rules and you did not.
There was not a tie. NO NO NO.
Diploma 1st
Padron 2nd.
End of issue.
What you two suggest is a "Offering" in the form of a trade. I accept your kind offer for one reason . Both of you " persons of questionable character" knew that the Diploma was better in a blind test."
Again- YOU ARE SCALLYWAGGS.
Send cigars- I'll send wine.
Great fun. Good friends.
Get ready for my next challenge. It's coming.
Ending this issue, I challenge Alex and his crew at Cigar.com as follows:
Find me a cigar that falls within the range my rating of Padron 2000,3000,Churchill & Diploma- @ $75 per box of 25 delivered & I'll give you all my business- which is 4 boxes $ 300 a month.

those cigars also happen to be my favorite so if they can meet your challenge i too would be thrilled.

Bildo:
Good reply.You got the picture.
The Diploma is a great blend, and if smoke properly should satisfy the needs of most smokers.
Mild-Yes
Medium-Yes
Strong-Yes
Only because of its complexity. Very complex-very good.
Cigar.com should search out a blend to match this cigar and offer a house blend. Everyone else in the business follows this pratice. Jump on this blend and get close to $3.00 or less per each.
Cigar.com is on the right track with their Honduris Primera. Follow the same pratice with the Diploma.
A generic Diploma.
If Cigar.com accepts the challenge- my business is theirs- 100%.
I think they will listen to us. Need more feed back.
Cigarsmoka & Macallan gave us a good lead. Let's follow up.

PS There is one catagory that you shalt not challenge. Crabcakes in Maryland. My hobby for over 30 years. I know the best in Maryland and most are available for shipping anywhere in USA. If anyone loves A+ Crabcakes please reply and I'll posy where to get them.

Offer a challenge and you will come in second. Maryland crabcakes are the best in the world.

The bottle is a Macallan 18 Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. It is my newer hobby. I find it costs me a little bit more than my cigar habit. As for a challange I will put something together but it may be a bit.

alex has arrived, malone keep me posted if you need me to keep posting how awesome it would be to get such a private label made. I would buy at least one box a month.

Malone, could you e-mail me your addy again...

As many of you are sure to know...I seem to have a problem keeping those around...

Coming your way...

Padron 6000 Mad
Padron 64 Monarca Mad
Padron 64 Exclusivo Nat

Looking forward to thye wine!!

Macallan 18 is a wonderful single malt.
My favorites are the single malts of Islay, which deliver a very peaty, smokey taste.
There is a Scottish firm that offers a unigue bottling of Single Malts.
My guess is that if you read how they do business, you'll search a retailer in your area who has the product and buy it.
